I take daily stool softeners to prevent constipation, and so do the vast majority of post ops I meet at my 3 monthly support meetings.   You may have to narrow down what may be causing your cramping and diarrhea. I had this occur one time when I was about 5-6 weeks post op. I had a tuna cassorole/corn in it. About 30 minutes after dinner, I had to drive somewhere. But my stomach seemed upset somewhat. I'd never had that before. I did a quick task in the backyard, and then got a horrible cramp, and boom--I had instant diarrhea.  There I was sitting on a planter, "taking care of business" in my backyard.  I think this was the first time I'd had pasta since surgery, and I know corn is not the best veggie for us. I can eat pasta and corn today, with no problems. You may have to narrow down a specific food that may be causing this. My surgeon had always said to try one new food per day. That way, if you had diarrhea or dumping, you'd know which food probably caused it.

Are you journalling? I would suggest you log everything that you eat or drink, what it is, how much of it, time of day etc. Then look it over and see if there are any patterns. Do you do dairy?

I did not have that issue. You did the right thing by calling your pcp. Be sure to also call your surgeon too. I hope this is just a temporary thing...You also might want to watch what you're eating just so you know what foods to limit or stay away from.
