GETTING THIN...N...LOVING LIFE!!!
I, too, had the RNY. You will get used to the protein - you will have to. It wasn't healthy foods that got us to the obese state to start with. I love ProComplex http://www.gotbody.com/public/products/productDescription.as px?PID=opt2730000&CatID=1855&Check=1- chocolate - and get it at GNC. I mixed it with jus****er and ice to begin with until my surgeon allowed me to have fruits. Then I added about 1/3 of a banana. I still love that drink and I'm almost three years out. I also like Nectar http://www.global-nutrition-inc.com/sy-036.html and New Whey Protein Bulletts http://www.bariatriceating.com/conewwhlipr.html These links are just to show you the products. I buy my protein bullets at Vitamin Shoppe and the Nectar online. You will find something you like. You will just have to get used to the taste.
As far as protein bars and meats, I didn't get either until 6 months out. However, I do now eat Worldwide Pure Protein bars, available at Ralphs, many vitamin shops, and Trader Joes. Each bar has 29-32 grams of protein, o trans fat, 4 net carbs and less than 2 sugars. They come in an amazing assortment of flavors. They also come in a smaller bar which has 20 g of protein. Also, Worldwide makes a protein drink in a can which is delicious when it is ice cold. It contains 35g of protein.

Cheri, I would go more towards the drinks and shakes at this stage in your surgery. The problem with the bars is you are trying to break your habits before and protein bars are same shape and size of something most of us ate before, candy bars. Right now you want to be working on retraining you mind set. Glad to see you have a call into the doctor also, keep us posted. Hugs Jenn

as a general rule of thumb I don't eat anything with more carbs than protein...
...I saw your post about cramps, you might be getting sick from the sugar and/or sugar alcohols in the protein bars....you're so new post-op, protein bars seem kind of hard to digest. have you tried cottage cheese or other softer foods that are high in protein?

Cheri,
I am not sure if you are eating these bars. But in regards to you above post. Are you dumping on them. The bars I feel are not a good choice at all. As far as I am concerned they are just candy. That is what got us all here in the first place. I really like nectar protein. I have noticed that you have struggled with your protein and what you should have. Try the nectar I like the twisted cherry mixed with walmart brand crystal light. It all tastes like cherry coolaid. It is 23 g of protein per scoop zero carbs.

the Nectar powder in Fuzzy Navel is down right addicting as far as I'm concerned....love that stuff! Especially when it's mixed with Orange Early Sunrise from Wal-mart
