from alaska to san diego

greetings....have a question for you CA peeps....having surgery at the alvarado bariatric clinic in san diego, ca....anyone from the san diego area know the area around alvarado hospital? trying to research place to stay while having pre-ops etc....and you know how sometimes although it looks good and clean.....welll you get the pic....any help would be appreciated!!

Hey!  I had my surgery there....almost 3 years ago...but, it was GREAT!  The bariatric nurses are fantastic. As far as hotels, it all depends on how much $$ you want to fork over for a place.  How long all together will you need a room? There is a Hotel 8 (I think that is still its name) that is East on the 8 from Alvarado, as far as convenience, that is a good place because it is right on the freeway.  However, the last time I stayed there was many many many moons ago and I couldnt say what it is like now. good luck to you!!

i figure for whatever amt of time i am in hospital...the hubby should be along or depending on the hospital he could catnap there!! lol    usually he ends up sleeping in the room with me since all of our medical for the most part gets done out of town....and he worries...he has yet to be kicked out but you never know...  did you have dr ellner do your surgery? i have heard nothing but good things about her and she is due up here in fairbanks for lecture on the 14th...so i will be doing a face to face!! thanks for the info!!

you are gonna love alaska!!  doing the cruise ship?  you will love alaska!! what areas are you visiting?  Fairbanks is small town and so different than anchorage...in fact if i were to tell anyone to visit i would say skip anchorage....hit fairbanks and drive down to valdez and see the beauty that way!!  just checking on hotels motels whatever near alverado hospital, i havent got a surgery date yet but i am trying to make sure i have all the funds and ducks lined up when i get the date!! thanks so much!!

Oh that sounds like a great trip . . .but I'm on the Westerdam . . . and we leave from Seattle, hit Glacier Bay, Juneau, Sitka, Kitchikan and Victoria, Canada before returning to Seattle.  One day I'd like to take the train up to Daneli also . . . oh to be rich and do what I want to do!  :D  Thanks for the advice though . . . maybe someday!

Hotel Circle is probably the best bet... there are allot of hotels and motels there... which doctor are you having surgery with?  I had Dr. Ellner... she's the best!

doing the deed with dr ellner!!!  so far she has been the most proffessional one i have dealt with as far as questions and phone calls....i am really impressed. 

I live in SD, but sad to say I don't really know where Alvarado is, but I just stayed at a hotel on my vacation last week that is a central location, cheap, and pretty nice. It's no 5 star hotel, but it is nice for the money! All rooms have a full on kitchen and ours had a couch too and it was only $55 a night!  It is the Days Inn at 5343 Adobe Falls Rd  92108  619-287-1911 It is off the 8 at little West of Hotel circle right off the Waring Rd exit. I don't know how far that is from Alvarado, but it was pretty central to a lot!!!    hope this helps!   May God bless your journey!          hugs, Becky
