Snacking

I hate snacking!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm right around the corner from my 2 yr anniversary.  I used to read other member's posts regarding how it's so much easier to eat and snack the further they were out (post op). Well, I find myself wanting to SNACK!!!! UGHHH Those old habits never go away.  Believe me, I am very concious about it and when I do snack, I try to snack on very healthy things. But it's those extra calories that haunt us.... I guess my honeymoon stage is coming to an end because I can eat a little more than before. For anyone reading this, let's just remind each other of the importance of staying on track, exercising, staying hydrated, take vitamins........you know what I mean. One thing my surgeon advised (which I am doing) is to buy a rotisserie chicken and shred it and whenever I get hungry to eat a piece of it... So, what do you guys do to stay away from snacking or, what do you snack on? Ok, let's be honest

That snack moster is a *****  Keep her off of you as much as you can, because she WILL bring back the lbs........... Continue to make good food choices, Gus, when you want to snack.  I wont even tell you what I just snacked on...

Hi Gus, Thanks for reminding us to stay on track. The "snack *****" (as Vicki puts it ) visits me often mostly when I am bored. I went to Trader Joes and bought me some soy crisps. I pack a little baggy of them in the morning before I go to work for emergency snacking. Also, I may have like 6 peanuts and the cravings go away. I try to just stay hydrated and if I feel like snacking I go drink something first because if I do that, the "snack *****" has a tendency to stay away.  The rotisserie chicken is an excellent idea!

Hope you are having a good Tuesday.

Hugs,

Jaime

Hey Bro! Hope you and Ana are doing well! - I'm a snack-fiend and had a bit of a shock when I got on the scale the other day... though I won't say what it said! I'm on day 2 of the pouch test thing to try to get back on track - Easter really did me in with all the candy and crap! Walking into my kitchen is like walking into the danger zone... there's a bag of candy on the counter as I enter the room, and when I go to the fridge there's a bid thing of frosted cookies staring me in the face. I don't want to kill my wife and children's  freedom to have yummy stuff around, and honestly, I'm the only one in the house with the problem... so I'm working on my own mindset and  on hydrating, like Jaime said, and then working on will power - though we all know that will power is not really something that any of us are good at mastering! Gus, The desire to snack is a constant threat in my life. I am 90% successful at holding it back. When I do snack, I try to stick to beef jerky. I am not always successful though. Ben

You can snack, but try to find healthy alternatives.  A few almonds, string cheese, or dried peas. I've mentioned the dried peas on other forums, but not here.  These are dehydrated peas (like the veggie that is served at so many dinner tables), yet 1/4 cup has 6 grams of protein.  They're a greeen veggie and crunchy, so much better than trying to snack on peanuts or most other nuts. Cost?? $1.35 per pound. Here is a site where you can see what they look like, as others get confused. I don't understand the confusion: http://www.harmonyhousefoods.com/Sweet-Peas-64-oz_p_20-1751. html  But this site has them grossly overpriced. 64 oz will cost $29 here.  I purchase mine from Clarks Nutrition, stores: http://www.clarksnutrition.com/retailer/store_templates/ret_ about_us.asp?storeID=2691B1FE187D41ACB869A85CA5957A0A and they sell them at $1.35 per pound.  I recently bought a 20 pound bag for $27, so you can see how much cheaper it is here.

thanks for the reminder, I am only 3 months out but having a 2 year old at home is hard when it comes to snacking, especially when she is eating her treats and wants daddy to take a bite. Right now I stick to beef jerkey, string cheese, and peanuts and fluids.
