Hi all, This is kinda gross...but I have to ask and need some of your input.  My dh had the blackest bowel movement ever. He came home from work early because he felt dizzy and very weak. He thought it could be dehydration. So he drank lots of water and gatorade but when he got home he had to use the bathroom. He went black. I told him it's not a good sign and that we MUST go to the emergency room.  He's almost two years post-op. I am worried. We are taking off in a bit but has anyone experienced this? Can anyone give any other suggestions on what else it could be? I just want an idea. He doesn't take iron, just regular multi-vitamins. He did say he started drinking the energy drink Monster and Red Bull.

I am thinking that is a sign of some kind of rectal bleeding.  The point to the ER now.  He has definite signs of some volume issues.  ER NOW! Liz

Black stool often indicates dead blood cells or intestinal lining tissue in the fecal matter, get him to a Dr and get him checked out!

It's also a sign of a bleeding ulcer- my brother-in-law had those symptoms- very serious. Go to the hospital now.

We just got back from the E.R. Apparently they believe it's GI bleeding...however since he is fairly young and I guess the bleeding wasn't significant...they sent him home. They referred him to a specialist, so now we gotta go from there. He's really worried..and so am I.  I know he'll be ok and if he has any more symptoms it'll be back to the E.R. Thank you all for your input and concern. I appreciate it. Thank you!!
