I am an emotional eater

So... I wasn't going to post this but this realization is something new to me and a real eye opener. As we all know there are all kinds of eaters- social eaters, bored eaters and emotional eaters.  I always thought I was a social eater, until today.  Hello my name is Jaime and I am an emotional eater. When I get upset I like to EAT.  I realized this and it actually feels kind of good to be able to pin point this feeling. (Yes, I am also in therapy). My son's principal called earlier and told me my son was getting suspended for throwing a ball at another child. I guess it was some big rubber ball. The other kid is fine. They asked TJ what happened and he said that this other kid through the ball at him first and he got upset. Apparently, the yard duty nazi opps I mean yard duty monitor didn't see it like that and told the principal the other kid did it on accident and my son through it on purpose. Does this sound childish? Ummmm, yes. I am a little upset at the school for suspending my son for this action. Hmmm, the only black kid in school also? I know I shouldn't think that way but I am very upset about this.  Anyway, thanks for letting me vent and admitting I am an emotional eater. I have been eating and eating and eating. The only positive thing is that I am eating tons of vegtables and soy crisps. There is an entire spread of goodies for St. Patrick's Day and I could have chosen the junk food because believe me, the buttermilk cookies sure look good right about now. But I am not. Now I can focus on eating when I am upset.  Just another learning experience during my journey.

You are not alone! I realized at one point that I am totally an emotional eater, and I am so much more able to manage it now!

That sucks about your son, sometimes adults can be so childish!

Hi Shells, thanks for the love. I never realized it until yesterday my compulsive eating. I asked myself "what is causing me to eat right now?" And I really payed attention to my body and I realized I was soooo pissed off I went right to the food.  Kind of a wake up call actually. Have a great day girl. Hugs, Jaime

I too am an emotional eater, Ive eaten when I was sad, happy, angry, upset, joyful. I ate pretty much any time I had an emotion.  Its good to admit that we are emotional eaters.  Sorry about your son. If you honestly feel they were unfair go to the school and talk to them. Because I went to 18 different schools my parents got used to having to go down there and fight for me if I was in the right. Best of luck!!!

Jaime do you have a "myspace" girl?  Cuz there are some thangs I wanna say to ya, but it would be better said on "myspace" LOL!  Anyway, I too am an emotional eater.  It doesn't matter if I'm happy, mad, sad, coo coo 4 coco puffs, I wanna "eat to it" not "toast to it!"  LOL!   It's great that you felt comfortable enuff to share with us.   Oh yea one more thing!  I need therapy too!  I think about 85% peeps on this board could use some therapy and thats not saying anything bad, its just that we got to this point of having WLS for more than just "we couldn"t push ourselves aways from damn the table."  And, even after WLS, I'm still struggling with my weight, but its not as bad as b4.  Nuff preaching gotta go study, but just wanted to support you. Jaime,  Yep, emotional eater here too! Now, March yourself into that office and let the school know you have a concern that the punishment does not fit the crime..if one was even committed. That yard duty person doesn't know willful intent, no matter what happened. If there is a rule about being suspended for throwing rubber balls. BOTH need to be suspended. period. If no such rule exists.. who the heck suspends a child's day of learning over a thrown ball. The kid is fine. He isn't maimed. I would make my son apologize regardless and go on with the day. This just irritates me to no end.  :) NOW I want a cookie :)
