I throw up.  Everyday now.  When I eat it feels like something is stuck in my chest between my breastbone.  My husband is worried as it has been going on for over a week.  I have this week off and am going to call in the morning to see if I can get in.  Does it sound like a stoma???  I thought that was more of a stuck feeling in the throat???  This SUCKS!!!

what are you eating? are you chewing to puree consistency? does it happen when you eat just soft foods? I would go back to liquids until you find out what's going on. Stoma? no, but maybe a stricture.

your stoma is the bottom opening of your new tummy...kind of the drain in the sink, if you think of it that way. A stricture is some kind of problem that develops in the pouch, I think... that might be what it is... Could you be eating toooo fast and not chewing enough? But the best thing is exactly what you are doing: go to the doc!! Best wishes, Cheri.... Lori

Gosh I was the queen of throw up.  That is all I did for almost 8 months.  The doc always said there was nothing wrong.  He was right, it was ME.  I ate too fast, drank fluids to close to eating before or after my meal, food were too dry, too big of bites, not chewing enough.  Definately call the doctor, but if there is nothing wrong, then back off some of what you are eating and maybe you need to eat smaller meals and more moist foods. I always explained the feeling as pressure like I was having a massive heart attack when I had problems.  I never had a stuck feeling in my throat, it was the pressure in the chest.   Good luck, Diane

YES!!!  That's how if feels Diane!  Like a pressure in my chest. NEVER in my throat!  I could be eating too fast or too big or not moist enough.  I will start keeping a journal again too.  This might help.  I am going to call the nurse this morning to see what she says. Cheri

Sounds like a stricture.  10% of RNY patients get them.  You'll need to get scoped.  It usually gets resolved the first or second time.  Don't be worried if you have to go back a second or third time to get scoped...that is very common too.  Good luck, Brian

I went through the same thing starting about 4 weeks ago--right around the 5 week post op mark. Had two upper GI's and it all came back clean. I was throwing up at every meal.

So now I just back off. Eat veeeeeeeeeery slow, with tiny tiny bites, chewed until you are sick of chewing. It has been hard because at this point, there is ZERO fun in eating anymore. It is work, plain and simple. And since I don't really ever feel hungry, I usually sigh to myself , "I have to eat again?!" when it comes time.

When the time comes that I *do* throw up, I then go back on liquids for the next couple meals. I figure if I throw up, then I have probably irritated things a bit, and I want to give my stomach the chance the get happy again. So far, this has physically been working for me. The mental part of it sucks...
