BMI 35 with Diabetes I

I'm wondering if any of you have diabetes type I, insulin dependent?  My BMI is 35 and I have developed type II, insulin resistance, as well.  I'm hoping the co=morbidity factors will qualify me for surgery?  I've been warned that the 35 BMI might not be high enough for  insurance approval?  My first surgeon recommended it, but had to refer me to a CME , so I have to start over with Higa.  Fern

hey Fern....no med advice from me, but I would honestly think you stand a good chance for approval with your medical history regardless of your BMI. I wish you luck, health and a big welcome here to the boards! Keep posting and let us know how things are going for you!
