I was just wondering if there are any of you that have been through the program at Fremont Kaiser.  I would love to know what your experiences were.  I am really struggling with whether I should go through with this or not.  I am quite no where near close to the time of having the surgery.  I am just in the early period.  Anyhow I would love to hear from you.

HI Sharon, I started out with Kaiser Fremont (2005).  If you wish you can read my page, I do have a breakdown of the steps you go through with Kaiser Fremont.  Good Luck, Annabelle

Thank you for your response.  I have read your page.  You are one determined person.  I am having some trouble losing and am wondering how long it will take me to get through all of this.  Why couldn't you sleep in your bed?  Could you not lay down after the surgery?  I have seen the doctor and nutritionist and coordinator already.  Now it is just finding a support group and losing weight.  The whole carb thing I can't quite grasp what to eat if I cut back to almost nothing on carbs.  I have been looking at it and almost all food has carbs. I wish you the best.

I slept in my recliner chair, because I couldn't sleep on my side, and I knew if I got into my bed I would want to sleep on my side.  I can't wait until I can sleep on my tummy.......can't remember when I was able to do that..LOL........   Before surgery I ate 2 instant packs of oatmeal in the morning, and filled my 64 oz mug with water and drank that and filled it up again if I ran out.  Lunch I ate Budget Gourmet's for lunch.  I get them at Win Co, they are around $1.17 usually around 300 cal, a piece of fruit.  Dinner would be whatever I wanted.  I picked dinner to as the meal that I can have what I wanted.  The first 2 days were hard because I was hungry.  I also allowed the weekend to eat what I wanted.  Maybe a small bowl of ice cream, but because I ate so little during the week my stomach had shrunk, and lost 43 lbs, I was 312 lbs when I went into surgery.  If I had waited for Kaiser I had to be 293 lbs, so I am very grateful for the process I went through.   Thank you for saying that I am determined, many had said this and I just think that if there is a will there is a way, and I had almost gave up in Nov. 2006 thinking I wasn't able to get this surgery, but just eat good.  The reason I was finally able to get weight off before surgery is because of my PCP, he found that I had diabetes, and with the medicine he gave me helped me.  He had told me he was going to give me diabetic medicine that helps with weight loss.   Good luck to you and your family...............Never Give up the Fight!   Annabelle
