One year ago today
I was being admitted into Clovis Community Hospital on surgery morning. I remember being very excited. Poor DH was very nervous and trying is hardest to be calm. I had surgery at 11:30 AM and Dr. Boone said it was textbook and everything went very well. I was back to my room by about 1:30 and walking the hall at 4:00pm. The nurses disconnected my pain management button in the middle of the night because I was not using it. Dr. Higa came by to check on me the next morning and I was released at 11am. My husband drove me the 3 hours home that day. We stopped every 30 minutes so I could walk around. Recovery went very well for me and I was back to work in a week and a half. I did return to work on a Wed. and worked short days for the remainder of the week.
Since surgery I have:
Lost 122 pounds and reached DR. goal
I cross my legs regularly
I have completed a 5K and am signed up for 10K (walk)
I don't run out of breath climbing a flight of stairs
I don't worry about being able to fit in the chairs
I'm smaller now than I have ever been since Jr. High
I have made some great friends on OH and haven't even met most of them
I am way more active with my daughter
I walk the doggy almost everyday
My joints don't hurt nearly as much.
I know there are lots more things and I just can't think of them right now. I am very happy with my decision to have WLS and sometimes I wonder why I waited so long.
One word of advise to those that are pre-op. Make sure your head is right BEFORE going into surgery. The surgery takes care of the physical part but not the mental or emotional.
Thank you to the Cali board for the continued support you have given me and everyone else. You all ROCK!
Sue
