Hi there.  I'm just trying out this "post message" thing.  I'm finding OH a little hard to navigate through.  I'm 6 days post op.  It's going better than I ever imagined.  However, I'm already getting tired of cream soups and protein drinks.  But......I'm determined to be successful.  Hey, can you take actual PILLS or does everything need to be crushed or in liquid form now?  I have some pain medication that I crushed yesterday and put it into juice, and it was BAD!!!  So bad, that I'd rather have the pain.  Any other ideas for taking additional medication?

Hi HotMama As for the site being hard to navigate through, just book mark this spot and you will be good. I find myself only needing this board as it has all the support and encoragement that I need. It will get easier to navigate through tho. As for your pain meds they should have given you your pain meds in a liquid form. I had mine that way. I also swallowed my small pills with water. As for the larger pills you really shouldn't chance swallowing those for at least 4 weeks. You don't want them to get stuck or sit on the incission line and cause problems.  There are a lot of the meds that you will need in liquid form already just ask your pharmacist. Yes when you crush them they can be so nasty. As for the pain don't suffer in pain just have the dr, prescribe liquid Loritab. It's the same thing as Vicoden. There are some people that even at 5 to 7 years out prefer the liquid or chewable pills. Me on the other hand prefer just to swallow them and if they are to large just break in half if you can. Your B12 has to be sublingual because thats the only way we can absorb it. As time goes on you will see that there are pills that you can swallo and some you might need in liquid form. By the way, Congratulations and welcome to this forum and to the losers bench.  Hope to see you posting more often. Take care have a wonderful day.

by the way. We all got tired of the cream soups and I am still drinking my protein drinks and 3 1/2 years out. I use Unjury chocolate and love it. or you can get unflavored Unjury and sprinkle it in your food or on your food. You can do that with any brand unflavored protein mix. I just found Unjury to be one that I really love the taste of. Your liquid stage will be over before you know it. and what comes from doing what the dr, says is a huge bonus. you did know that you can eat SF/ jello and SF/ pudding and SF/ popsicles and fudgesicles. I live on that stuff. Good luck to you

You are doing great! Congratulations! I lived on chocolate Unjury.  You can't go wrong there. Yum! No chalky taste. No bad aftertaste. I used liquid Vicodin. Still used it recently when I had a shoulder injuryl I could take the tablets but they were hard on my ulcer. Keep on the program. It works!
