Hello, This is my first time posting to the message board. Here is my situation. I have never been a complainer but suffer from many weight related problems such as acid reflux, joint pain and I also Have PCOS with insulin resistance. I am 5 foot tall at about 210 pounds depending on the time of day..lol. with a BMI of 41.  For the Past 7 years I have been under the care of a Reproductive Endocrinologist for my PCOS during this time I only saw my PCP for colds and allergies but not for physicals or weight related problems... Like I said I am not a complainer so I just ignored the constant heart burn and my aches and pains. Now that I am at the point where I want to do WLS of some sort.. possibly lap band I should have been complaining to my PCP all these years to have it all documented. THis past week I recieved a letter from my PCP that he is no longer practicing. So now if I even wanted to start going to him for any weight related issues I can not and I am in need of a new PCP. Preferably one who is weight loss surgery friendly and knows how hard it is for a woman with PCOS and insulin resistance to lose weight. I guess I should post this on the pcos Forum as well.  So I was wondering if any of you know of a WLS friendly  primary care physician in the SF East Bay area??? Oakland,Hayward or San Leandro areas. I would be willing to go as far as Pleasanton and Dublin areas as well. I need to start getting my problems documented along with all my PCOS weight issues. .. thank so much in advance ,Dona

Hi! i live in San Lorenzo!  I have a great PCP he is so supportive of me and my W LS journey. He is in SF. His name is Dr. Robert Bartz. He's with  Pacific Family practice . I dont have the number on me at the moment but if you PM me i'll send it.      He have given me referrals for anything and everything I need. Right now I'm appealing my insurances decision to only not allow me to go out of network to get a DS with Dr. Jossart.  Dr.Bartz personally wrote a letter for me to submit to the DHMC. he's great! Muchos Besos, Maya

Thank you so much Maya for the information. I can probably just google his name and get the phone number. I am in San Leandro. Good luck on your surgery! I am sure they will approve you just a matter of time.  I have BLue Cross PPO.. When I contacted Dr Jossarts Office a few days ago they told me that was one of the best to deal with. So hopefully I wont run into any problems.

Thank you everyone for the kind words and helpful information. I am very scared and nervous about all of this. But I am getting so tired of dieting with no real long term results. So hopefully I can find a PCP that will be supportive of me wanting to have WLS even though I am not what some call super obese. My BMI is borderline depending on what I weight today..lol.  Dona
