How to take Vitamins, Calcium, etc
I was told that calcium should be taken seperate from your other vitamins. I take my multi vitamin and iron together- the surgeon said that was okay but not to take your calcium at the same time. I take 800 mg of calcium a day. They are the bariatric advantage chewable ones, and they taste NASTY. I don't like them at all and trying to find an other alternative at this point. I was also told that the calcium should have citrate in it. So try to find calcium with citrate in it. I heard that was best.
Hope that helps.

Hi Cheri,
I don't know about Dr. Higa, but Dr. Boone wants me to take 1500 mg calcium citrate a day. Calcium also absorbs better if taken with protien. I take a multi and B12 first thing in the morning. Then I take 500mg calcium citrate with each meal. (I eat breakfast about 2.5 hours after I take my multi) I find it very easy to take this way and I haven't had any trouble.
Edit: Oh, I don't have iron issues (yet) so I don't have to take an iron supplement. I do also know - and Jaime mentioned it too. Don't take iron and calcium together.
good luck
Sue
