cant get enough fluids
I'm sure your pouch is just fine! I can't remember where I read it, but I remember someone saying that it's impossible to stretch your pouch with fluids. I'm sure your body is very happy that you're staying so hydrated!
I wish I got thirsty like everyone else! I've always had a weird problem with it; I can remember one day being at work, and feeling kind of yucky at around 3pm. I happened to drink something, and starting feeling 100% better. I realized that I hadn't drank anything since the night before, and was dehydrated! I guess I'm like those people who have no pain receptors and can't feel pain, but in my case I have no thirst receptors! LOL!
Hope you're doing well, Annabelle!
DeAnna
Thank you for the reassurance about my pouch not being stretched out due to fluids. I got a post and it said that the dry mouth will stop.........I hope so........I feel better today (day 5), and I am going to try not using my pain med's, but if it gets real bad I will. I have also taken, my patch off behind my ear for nausea.
Thank care De Anna,
Annabelle
I've been having a tough time with fluids too.
Best advice I have received was:
1) Drink from a regular open glass, not a sports bottle. Made a huge difference for some reason
2) Gatorade has a low cal version G2 and it has really made me feel hydrated & full - finally
For variety:
I got some good instant mashed potatoes (not normally my thing) to mix with some sourcream or "butter" spray. Cottage cheese & tuna has always been a fav (quick blend the tuna first if you are worried about consistency). Mushed up artichoke heart with little bit of mayonnaise. Salmon should be easy to get to a soft consistency. Shrimp ****tail cooked but not overdone.
At 4 wks my Dr. suggests a pretty normal diet of high protein, low carb, low fat - small portion. He's not a fan of protein supplements either, but each is different. Just stay away from white stuff, including rice.
Well that's my .02
