Hi everyone. I am 1 day shy of 4 wks post op. I am having a very difficult time getting in my fluids and finding soft mushy foods that I can eat. I am currenty only getting about 20 oz's of fluids daily and that is high guess. For foods im eating Malt o Meal, scrambled egg, pudding, creamed soups, refried beans, soft cheese's. I want something different! Anyone have any suggestions. So far to date I have since surgery lost 27 lbs...yea and since I started the process I have lost 65 lbs...

Do you have what they call a CamelPack?? One of those things you wear hiking or whatever. I have one and when I need to remind my self to get H2O in I fill it up and use it. The mouth piece is right by my mouth and I take frequent sips that way. It is not heavy and I don't notice it is on my back but the sipper is right there for me. Jenn

Angelique, you need to continue to sip all the time to work on getting your fluids in.  At 4 weeks post op try using some jello and popsicles too.  That does count as fluid.  In terms of food are you able to try some tuna? I see that you are in Lompoc.  Are you a dispatcher in Santa Barbara?  My brother just retired from Sheriff up there.  He also lives in Lompoc. Try to continue to sip sip sip.  Try also to flavor your liquids,. Liz

I had the hardest time with fluid at first. I used to drink a ton of water, then after surgery, I couldn't hardly swallow it. Then I found Crystal lite and the Walmart brand of the same stuff. I have no problem with fluid. I can almost guzzle the stuff after I mix a flavor into it. Plain water, still gets "stuck" sometimes.  Don't forget your cream soups, pudding, jello, popcycles also count toward fluid intake. At 4 wks post op, I was also allowed to have deli meats. You may need to check with your surgeon on this one as they are all different. Also, in my soft food stage, I ate a lot of avacado's. mmmmmmm oh, and don't forget oatmeal, yogurt (I like the dannon lite and fit. less sugar) Hang in there, it gets easier. Sue

It's funny, I thought for the longest time I was the only one that couldn't drink plain water anymore. But like you said, Crystal Lite and the wal-mart brand are great. I drink them all the time and there are so many flavors. Have you tried Kroeger's Carb Control yogart? It's great and has 12g of protein almost no fat, sugar or carbs.

No, we don't have a Kroegers around here. Sounds yummy though!

You can get it at Ralph's or Food 4 Less, if you have one of those.

Hi Angelique! Congratulations on your weight loss!  You are doing great!  I had such a hard time with fluids, too!  I was never good about drinking much of anything before surgery, and it was even harder after surgery!  Finally what I did (while I was still at home) was set a timer to go off every 5 minutes.  Every time it went off I took just a little sip (I could never remember to drink without it!)  Whenever I was on the phone and the timer went off my friends or family would laugh and say "Take your drink!"  What was cool was that I was so EVENLY hydrated!  Sounds weird, but I felt much better! The Diet Soda Popsicles were a life saver, too!  The box has root beer, Dr. Pepper, and Orange Crush flavors, and they are so yummy! Good luck!

Gosh, I can't go without fluids, my mouth gets tried out..........I am sipping all day long on water, crystal lite, protein shake, sf pop sickles, and the broth from chicken soup.  I hope I am not over doing it., and stretching out my pouch, Annabelle
