A big congratulations to all of our OH Marathoners!  A job well done!  Kirsten, Kevin, Groove Daddy, Cyndi, and Gary all finished!  It was a tough day with winds and temperatures higher than comfortable for runners.   Kirsten and Kevin have been training with me since September and have put in a lot of hard work.  The others are all alumni of the program.  Kirsten, I felt bad because every time I saw you on the course, you started to cry!  I almost wanted to hide, so you wouldn't cry! I am very proud of all of my 118 AIDS Marathon runners.  The "cherry on top" came when I was helping to bring in our last four runners.  A man came up and thanked us for doing what we are doing.  He told us that he is an AIDS Project Los Angeles client and has been benefitting from the funds we raise.  That makes the pain, time commitment, and sacrifices all worth it!  Looking forward to next September's training and more OH runners! Scott, It was so great to see you on Friday.  You know I need to tell you that you are an inspiration to so many myself included.   I really missed running yesterday however I do not miss the pain that I get in the hip.  I thought of you when I went over the 6th street bridge.  Got a little misty when last year I was struggling so bad on that bridge you gave me the pep talk and it got me thru.  Well, being misty on the bike well that is a little tough .  I actually went slower to the right and savored the memory of last year.  So as I have told you if I can't run at least I can ride andd boy do I get a rush from it too.  The nice thing is that Chuck rides with me.  So it brings my exercise full circle. I get to spend time with Chuck. To our runners as usual I am so proud of them.  They all work hard it is so grueling out there as you well know.   Scott, I think you got your just reward when that man came up to you and thanked you as a client of APLA. THe fund raising does make a difference. Thanks to you Scott for all that you do. Liz

Liz, Congratulations on another fantastic ride!  I can only imagine how fantastic it must be to ride over that bridge.  I was not stationed in that zone this year (my zone started just after the runners come across the bridge), but I made my way across it because I know it is such an emotional area of the marathon when you come across and see that beautiful view of the skyline!  Keep on doing what you are doing, I love that you have found your niche!

Liz, congratulations on your ride! I'm glad that Chuck is able to do this with you--awesome!  I cannot even tell you how many times I thought of you yesterday. I loved having you by my side last year and I have to say that I was always one to run solo, but I felt a little lonely yesterday. I am proud of you for staying active, even if it can't be through running. I bet cycling is a whole different rush!

Thanks Brian.  It was a good ride a little ok a lot crowded but good.  I really learned how you need to be careful when you are out there and it is crazed.  What I really enjoy is a good hard canyon uphill ride. Liz

Wow--that totally brought tears to my eyes reading about the APLA client thanking you. That is so awesome and just goes to show that coaching/running for such a great cause is well worth it. I hope that you are able to recruit even more OHers for next year!  Thank you so much for being there. I got so emotional when I saw you and you ran with me for a bit. You are truly loved by so many. When Gary and I got back to Pershing Square and were sitting next to a group, I heard one girl telling her family how awesome her coach is and that he had a purple mohawk and and that she could not have done it without him, etc. I just felt so proud to have an amazing brother like you who has always been so selfless and who gets such a high from helping others. You are so special!

HI Scott! Thanks for your support yesterday on the course - you made things a lot easier for me with your encouragement and advise along the way! I learned a big lesson about training yesterday - even though I had a blast with K&K it would have been a lot better if I was in shape for it! Thanks again, C h e e r s, gene
