Ok, so my pre-op appointment is on Wednesday at 8:45 am and was told it will take 4-6 hours!  OMG, why does this take so long?  I know I watch a video, then do blood work, but what else?  What kind of blood work are they going to do?    Annabelle

I had mine on 2/6/08 at uc Davis they weight you you watch a movie, they have one of the doctors come in and see if every thing is ok with you listen to your hart and lungs then they get all your paper work together and send you over to the allison bulding for blood and to talk to the people that put you out and they will ask more qustions. . They tell you 4-6 hours because they have alot of people doing there pre-op when I want there were 2 groups of us and each group had abot 5-8 people in it. Hope that hepls you some. Stacie

Thanks, Stacie. I hope your RNY works well and helps you achieve your ideal weight.  I have 25 pounds to go and am down to a size 36" waist.  I went from wearing XXXL tent-sized shirts to a Large/Tall.  I can see all of my feet when I look straight down my body.  The mountain that blocked my view was burned up this past summer.  I'd forgotten that burning up the difficult fat cells raised my body temperature all the time and only left the house in the evening for a swim. Thank you once again for your support and I hope everything works out well.

Thank you Stacie..........I have done so much blood work........LOL........I know I will have to do this for the rest of my life, but gosh this is a lot of blood work prior to surgery.   I can not believe that I am one week away from surgery.  I have waited for this surgery. Annabelle

Oh the pre op appointment. It won't take 6 hours unless they are behind. They give you all your prescriptions etc. Good luck. See you at the support groups!

That is crazy.  I had my surgery at UC San Francisco, and my pre-op appointment was only an hour.
