Shaking the carb monkey

That's what I want to do, just not have it in the house if I can help it....it's tough because Chris can eat whatever she wants and I feel like it's not fair to her, but she has been super great about being supportive of what I can and can't (well, in the future, that is) have, so I think she will be fine with it. =)

Thanks for the support!

Oh, and, I AM running a marathon, I CAN DO IT! I might want to die after, but I am going to do it one day!

Awwwww girl, I hate that damn carb monkey myself. He is always talking to me in the cafeteria at work to have pizza, bread, pasta and rice with my chicken stir fry. Somehow I choose to ignore him. I think being healthy and looking good is a motivator. He's always there though... I LOVED rice before WLS and now it dosen't sit well with me and I stay away from it. Your tastes and likes will change most likely after WLS. I thought I would just die not eating bread with my dinner but now I don't even think abou it. My favorite resturant was Olive Garden before WLS. Breadsticks... YUMMY! Now when I see Olive Garden I just think how full and nasty I would feel after eating anything from there. I never thought in a million years I would hate Olive Garden. Now I call it Carb City. Your body will crave healthy foods after surgery- at least mine does. You won't feel so hot after eating to many carbs.  Anyway, I am glad you came "out of the closet" about this. We are all here to support you. I used to be a soda addict. Diet cherry coke addict. I haven't had any soda since surgery and not planning too. Why start?  Hang in there. You will rock at this WLS. You have a good attitude, very supportive and on this board often. That's half the battle right there. No worries. I think a lot of us were food addicts (and some still are) before WLS. Your relationship with food changes after this surgery.  Sending you don't worry hugs, Jaime

Thanks Jaime! I have found lately that when have carbs it makes me kind of sluggish and ucky...so I don't think it will be TOO hard, just a matter of doing it!

OMG Shells you CAN DO THIS!! I was totally a carb/sugar junky before surgery. For me, it was just like dope. Once I kicked it, I was ok as long as I don't start again. It's all or nothing for me so I have to stick to none. You are going to be a WLS Rock star and now is definately the time to start.  Sue

Oh sweetheart you have a LOT of company on this one!  I LOVE carbs - potatoes & pasta BIG time!!  One thing that does help after surgery is when you have other choices in front of you, like your  protein & other good stuff, do you want  to fill up on a carb or a protein?  I choose protein every time.  I need the protein to keep the hair from falling out & to keep my skin from drying up.  (Yes, it is vanity that works for me) Crackers are tough when you need something quick - I like mine with peanut butter! I think not wanting to lose my hair is going to be good motivation for me too! LOL

Thanks!
