Shaking the carb monkey

OK...I am posting this here so that all of you know, and it will keep me accountable!

I, ShellsBells, am a SERIOUS carb addict.

One of my goals before surgery was to shake this carb monkey! Surgery is getting pretty close, the monkey however, still here with a vengeance!

So as of today, I am out of the closet! I am an addict and I need help! I need to cut these carbs!

I need to know in my head that I am being watched (so to speak) and that if I don't stick to my guns I will be held accountable!

I have decided to go one meal at a time, starting with dinner, no more carbs with dinner! I want to TRY to add one meal a wee****il refined carbs are gone (or pretty darn near!) from my plate!

I am strong! I am invincible! I am quaking at the thought of giving up rice!!!

I Kirsten am a serious carb addict too!!!!  I shook the monkey for over a year, but it's been back driving me crazy for the past few months!!!!  Luckily with all my marathon training, it hasn't been able to get me out of my size 8/10's, but I'm worried that if I cut back on the exercise after the marathon I will be in horrible trouble!!!  I guess that means I have to plan marathon #2???  Or maybe a triathlon that's been looming in the back of my mind for awhile now????   Don't forget.......there are carbs that are good for you.  Fruits, veggies, whole grains.  :-)

Maybe I will run the next marathon with you? I seem to have caught the crazy bug and have the desire to do one after my surgery. LOL

See what Kirsten started???  Stay away from that crazy girl...she'll have you running marathons if you hang around her too much. :)

I think it's good that you recognize your carb-addiction. After surgery you will sort of be forced to break the habit.  If I eat bread, rice or pasta now it just sits in my tummy so heavy that it's really uncomfortable. Even just thinking about eating them kind of grosses me out.

Crackers on the other hand.....oh boy, do I love my crackers!! ...my pouch doesn't seem to mind if I eat a few of them either.

I've tossed out about two boxes of wheat thins that I've picked up in the past few months and started munching on. I started eating them with cheese and considered it ok, because cheese has protein!!

I just don't keep those things in the house. It helps, and now when I crave something crunchy like a cracker I have an apple slice.  The pouch gurgles, but I figure it's better than a cracker.

Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."
