Surgeon advice LePort's office

I know quite a few people here had this office for their surgery ,so I once again would like to ask those who were involved to please share with me your feelings about the surgeons there. Our coverage allows hubby and I to select any Dr in the office. All paper work has been submitted for approval and we are waiting a reply. From there i understand the scheduler will call us and set up a date for surgery and a Dr's talk one on one. Would anyone who has used a Dr in that office recommend the one they had or another in the office to select or should I just stay with Dr LePort?  I also would like to get it done as soon as possible once approved and i'm worried Dr LePort might be booked. Not sure if anyone here still does the support group on Thursday out there but hubby and i will be attending the Feb 28th one at Fountain Valley. Any and all Info would be greatly appreciated. Hugs!  Overall I have had an excellent experience from beginning to end.  I was a real nag in preparation for surgery because of my battle with my insurance company.  Every phone call was handled professionally by the staff and they put up with a lot of my constant calling. 

My stay was at Fountain Valley was also good. It's a nice hospital and I taken good care of.

Of the four surgeons I believe Dr. Ali does the most procedures and Dr. LePort has been doing surgery the longest. (I might be wrong though)  I have great respect for Dr. Ali and I really like his demeanor, you can ask him anything. I felt really comfortable in his presence.

You can also read the reviews by other patients of each surgeon here on OH.  I think you'll be in good hands no matter who you select.

Let me just say I agree with everything Monica said....I to ohad Dr Ali and he is great.  I think you might get a sooner date with one of the other physicians as I have heard that Dr LePort is super busy.  There are others on the board who have had the other 2 drs as well and they like them also.  So I think it just might be a matter of who you would feel more comfortable with.  But like Monica said, Dr Ali is so easy going and easy to talk to.   My surgery was at Orange Coast Memorial and I had no problems at all, in fact the hospital stay was pretty good (all things considered )  I would have no problems using that hospital again should the need arise. Good luck on your journey - you are in good hands with that group of physicians....

Thank you Jean!   There is nothing better than hearing the opinions of the actual patience. Hubby and i will have to go to Orange Coast Memorial as well for surgery, thanks for letting me know a bit about that as well. Hugs! Brenda

Hi Brenda,

I had Dr. Kelly Francis and thought she was great - no problems or complaints. I'd go back to her for surgery in a heartbeat. I even got some "bonus" surgery from her, as she removed my gall bladder, and cleaned up a lot of scar tissue that had wrapped itself around my intestines from a past surgery.

I've heard good things about all four doctors, LePort, Chin, Ali and Francis.

I had my surgery at Orange Coast Memorial, and had no problems with the hospital.

Hi Brenda and Hubby, Dr. Kelly Francis is in my opinon the Best WLS around.  She talks to you , she listens , tells you just what she will be doing, no *****footin around, Doc. Francis tells you the way it is, I sure liked that about her.  I wanted to truth so that I could make my own informed decision.  I had my wls. 2 YEARS ago yesterday.  My surgery was done Laprascopicaly, 5 little holes.  Doc. Francis told me she would do the surgery Lap. so that I could heal faster.  Doc. used glue to close me up, no outside stitches, yeah.  Dr. Fancis told me that she would be avalible to me at any time should I have a problem.  No problems.  I saw her for the first year and a half on a regular basis.  I go to my PCP now, unless I ever have a WLS issue.  Good luck on your WLS Journeys, Peg

Hi Brenda, Lori C. and I both had Dr. Chin and he is wonderful too. He is quiet and concerned and a very talented surgeon. We followed his advice exactly and we sailed thru everything to goal. Now my angelette Tanya had him a month ago, and she doing great too. Like Monica and Jean and the others, I love the office and the staff. And Fountain Velley Hospital was great too! You can't go wrong with this office! Good luck from us, nancy
