Hello everyone,    I am will be 4 weeks post-op on Saturday and have kind of hit a plateu I have been staying at 255 for a week now.  Is this normal so soon after surgery?  Is there something i can do to break it? Thanks

Hi there! It would be helpful to know the following: How much water are getting in? How many grams of protein? How many calories a day? Are you exercising? Sometimes if you are not getting enough, your body will go into starvation mode and hang on to everything.  sue

It will get easier with time, I promise! It also definately looks like your numbers are a little low. maybe try adding some peanut butter or soy nut butter. Low fat cheeses, almonds, eggs, low fat beans, don't know if your DR. will let you have it yet, but ground turkey is good too. some deli meat. Tuna or canned chicken (if tolerated) Try to get in a bit more fluid. Oh, the other thing I noticed with me is that if I got in the habit of eating basically the same thing everyday, I would start to stall. Change it up a bit. You are still early out and I do believe Jillie is right about it not being a true plateau unless it lasts more than 4 weeks. Just keep doing what your Dr. says, try to add more protien and water and it will start falling off again. I also know that for me, even brand new, I always gained a couple of pounds or got stuck if it was "that time of the month" Hang in there, Sue

Hi Slayer!  Cute avatar!  You are completely normal.  Everyone has plateaus at different stages in the game.  Make sure you are getting your protein and water in and exercise and you will keep losing. Technically, I believe it isn't a true "plateau" until you haven't lost anything for more than four weeks, but I could be wrong. It is frustrating but just keep on keepin on and it will start again.  Look at it scientifically and you realize that there is no way that you won't lose with what little you are eating.   Hang in there!! Hugs!

Hey Slayer.. Same thing happened to me I was so discouraged.  For like three weeks I had lost nothing.  My period came previous to that and I put on 4 lbs.  I was so devistated.  But then I had to stop and realize I started exercizing a lot more and that may of factored in.  Then after three weeks the weight started to come off again, even quicker.  I am still early out as well, so I know how it feels.  It can be very discouraging!!  But hang in there and keep on going.  You will get back on track again!!  Good Luck!!
