Hi Lolote,
I was approved with a BMI of 35 with hypertension, GERD and mild sleep apnea I actually wasn't expecting my insurance company to say yes, but they did. I would like to think that if you meet the criteria with either a BMI of 35 plus co-morbidities or a BMI of 40, your chances are good.

Sorry...don`t know. But i would suggest you also research a little more. Most physicians are NOT doing, nor recommending the lap bands anymore. There are too many problems and not very good results from them........
Hello Everyone,
I am new to the site and have a question.
I am looking into getting the lap-band surgery, and wondered if any of you know if MSP or Pacific Blue Cross will cover the lap band surgery in BC?
Thanks so much :)
Thank you, that makes me feel better. :) my BMI is now 38.8 so I was terrified that loosing a few pounds would get me denied... I have my first info session next week, so I guess I'll find out some more :)
Oh, and I should add, WCB website says BMI of 40, or 35 with comorbidities like high blood pressure, sleep apnea, diabetes etc.
I have HBP so I have one.
Hi there, have you gone to Garratt Wellness Center for the information session? My doctor sent my referral in to Westcoas Bariatric in June of 2012. Garratt Wellness center called me in December of 2013 to come in for my information session. I went Jan 15, 2014.
I am not in the program, and am waiting for my surgery date.
I lost 37 pounds since my referral was first sent in. My BMI is now hovering around 40. I was worried that I would be denied too because of that. They assured me that I would still qualify, since my original weight was submitted by my referring doctor.
They said they want us to lose weight in the process, and we won't be punished for our efforts, by being denied.
