I purchased mine from GNC if you are talking about unflavoured protein powder.

Yes, I live in Victoria. It really gives me hope to hear that this is really happening for you because I've been kind of depressed thinking that I will never have my surgery! I've been waiting for well over a year and have not heard anything from Dr. Amsons office yet. I called them a couple of weeks ago and was told that it could still be up to two years away. I feel like I've been fat for most of my life and I'm completely ready for this. mind, body and soul and the waiting is excruciating. Thanks for sharing your happiness and excitement, it helps...

For those living in the Victoria area. What do you use for plain protein powder? Also where do you buy it at?

Thanks

I would not think MSP would pay either. I went self Pay out of Smartshape in Ontario. Good experience.

Waited 12 months and still had not gone for my initial surgeon consult with the MSP route. Hopelessly backed up. I hear it is shorter waits in Victoria?

In Prince George you will have difficulty with the wait list and other conditions just due to your distance from all the specialists? Might want to go self pay and get it done? If you can afford it that is?

surgery is one of about 10 things you must change in life. If not it will fail.

Good luck.

For me VSG has been amazing. Money was secondary as I had had enough of the crazy wait times. Life was passing me by. Life is too short to wait IMHO

PS

I lived in PG for many years!

You are in great hands. Dr. Malik did my sleeve and I definitely like his no-nonsense approach to this. He even reminded me of it as I was getting wheeled into the surgical suite. Carla and Co. are a great resource...don't hesitate to use them!

Let us know how it goes!

Topic: RE: 5 days out

Lack of hunger is normal. I haven't felt hungry since my surgery. It has to do with the removal of the majority of your stomach, and therefore its ability to produce Ghrelin (sp?), which is what makes you hungry. If you are looking to help get your protein in, try the Premier Protien Shakes. Get them super cold and the Cholocate ones will taste like Chocolate Milk. I lived off that for stage 2 as well as home made smoothies with fresh fruit, 1% milk and protein powder. Wasn't much for soups, and plain broth tasted horrible to me.

For Nausea, I have found that the Gravol chewable ginger tabs work the best for me.

I just got sleeved on July 27th, so I'm a little bit ahead of you in the stages. If I can help in any way, just let me know!
