Oh Jill lololololololol ... definitely good to know (that we're gonna 'go')
Yay! Glad things went so well. The team does pay attention to who isn't paying attention, lol. You've already made such proactive choices and that will impress Dr Z and Carla :)
Welcome Nicole
Hi Nicole,
It was great meeting you as well. BTW, I was talking about the guys that would not stop talking through the entire session.
What did you think of the orientation? Did you know that they were mostly doing the sleeve now?
Do you think you'll move forward with the surgery?

Hey Rhiannon,
It was nice meeting you at Orientation. You really seem to have things well in hand. I'm sure the surgery will go great for you. Thanks for recommending the forums.
Nicole
Welcome! Rhiannon is pretty much on track there with around 3 years, it seems to be moving faster recently so possibly 2 years or even less I can tell you my surgery is in 2 weeks and I had my orientation at RJH last Summer so 8 months from orientation.
Hi and welcome!
There is no definite time but it seems to be roughly three years from referral to surgery right now. I waited for almost two years to hear from anyone. I finally got the invitation to the orientation and just attended it yesterday at RJH. It looks like it will be roughly six months until my assessment and then if I'm accepted maybe a few more months until surgery.
Keep coming back to this site for more information, it's an amazing resource.
Good luck!
Rhiannon

Thanks. I'm really excited at this point to get in the best shape I can, both mentally and physically for my surgery.

Hi All. New to the boards and new to this Bariatric Surgery journey. Just met with my GP in Duncan BC and have asked for a referral to the Bariatric Program. Just waiting for sleep testing to complete my referral. Have spent a little time reviewing posts here but was wondering if there are people out there who have gone through the Bariatric Program at Royal Jubilee in Victoria and how long their process has been? How long from referral to getting an initial appointment? How long after orientation, etc before they got their surgery? Any info appreciated - thanks!
I just booked my hotel in Victoria for the big day. So I've booked from the 4th to the 11th, to allow for pre-op visits two days before and two days after since the surgeon wants to make sure I'm in Victoria for 2 nights after I'm released in case there is an issue.
Staying in Victoria can be pricey for long periods of time, especially if your surgery is in the Summer. If you aren't aware already the BC government Procurement services has a list of hotels in areas that if you have to travel for medical reasons they have medical rates at some Hotels, the webpage is below.

This is seperate from the Travel Assistance Program which is also available to assist in travel costs, for Ferries etc. Forms are required in advance from your specialist, in my case I don't believe I qualify as technically there are surgeons in Richmond.
