Topic: Last weekend without a sleeve...
Alright everyone...

Here we go!

I go in for surgery in 63 hours...

I still have to make a few calls to let people know that i'll be out of touch for a week or so.

I am going to make my bed with the most comfortable sheets in the lower mainland because I know i'll be spending time in bed when I get home.

I know they say you can't bring valuables to the hospital, but I might end up in the psych ward without my MP3 player. I guess i'll pack a few magazines as well.

I have to remember to clean the filters on my CPAP and pack it with me.

I plan on drinking lots of water this weekend so I don't get dehydrated Monday after surgery.

I also have to remember to take my meds with me.

Other than that, I am looking forward to Monday morning. My instructions are to shower and brush my teeth at home, then to report to admitting, and then report to surgery. I will then be given an antibacterial wash to shower with over my abdomen. Then, I meet with the surgeon and then, its VSG time.

After surgery, I have read that Blood clots can occur when accumulated blood in the small blood vessels in the legs prevents blood from flowing in that area. So I am going to get up and walk around as soon as and as much as I can.

Other than that, its rock n roll time...

Topic: RE: GARRETT CENTRE "SUPPORT GROUP"
Changeways is an 11 week group which has a topic to cover each class. There is great discussion re: specific issues pertaining to the topic at hand. After the 11 weeks there is a maintenence group which is a little more "free form" which is held once a month, but available for those who have completed the 11 week program.

The timing of changeways is changing to accomidate those whowork.
To be admitted to the program or if you have questions, please contact Robyn, OT for more details [email protected] or 604 278-9711 ext. 4341.
There is an interview associated for admission, to qualify for an interview you must be one of the Richmond program clients.

Topic: RE: Richmond Drs. ...? time off work?
Hey!  That's quite different from me Jaynak - both Dr. Nguyen and my GP said I would be off for six weeks "minimum, possibly longer".  Maybe it's because of all of my other health concerns, I'm not sure.  But my GP adamantly told me she would not allow me back to work - even part-time - for six weeks at least.

Interesting.....

Dr. Sampath told me 2 weeks for sure but I could have 4 if I wanted it.  He said that physically you're healed in about 2 weeks but you need more time to be able to get used to the diet and changes to it.
