Topic: RE: Question on hospital tests?
I had all of my pre-op stuff done on the same day.  I had an appt. with the internist Dr. You, saw the nurse and was sent off for bloodwork, ecg, chest x-ray and then came back to see the anesthetist.  I did have to go back to re-do some bloodwork in there as well.  Like Lilymorg I was able to book my last pre-op appt. with Nooshin for the same day (and I was lucky enough that at that time she was still working at the hospital).  It was a pretty long day for me, got to the hospital for my appt. with Nooshin at 9am and didn't finish with everything until about 4:30pm, I had about 1 1/2 hours to wait until I could see the anesthetist so I went outside for a nice walk.  Oh yeah, I also saw someone from PAL to do a pre-op assessment as part of their study on the benefits of WLS.

all my pre-op tests were done on the same day...I think they schedule them all on the same day for everyone????  They called me with the appointments all set up.
- blood work
- ecg
- chest xray
- appointment with anesthesiologist
- appointment with internal medicine dr
- appointment with nurse

and then I even booked an appointment with the dietician on the same day.

I live about 2 hours away from Richmond, so it was nice to get it all done in the same day.

Topic: Question on hospital tests?
So what tests does the hospital have to do prior to surgery, and can they get done on the same day?   I ask this because of living so far away that I do not want multiple trips in Dec. for this.

Yay we are both onto the next part of this journey!!

Ive been lucky to get to know you aswell. For some reason I thought we would be put side by side in the hospital, and be doing laps around the wards together. But thats sooo not how it happened. Can't believe I didn't see you once!

Glad you are home, and good job on the walking! thats amazing that you can go that far! Im still working on very small walks.

Hi Linda, I live and Kamloops and when I had my surgery I was told to expect to be in hospital until Thurs-Friday.  Dr. Sampath did tell me that if possible he would prefer that I spent a few extra days down at the coast just in case something was to happen, I was able to stay at my Dad's in Surrey and then he drove me home.  I got out of hospital on Thursday and got back to my house in Kamloops on Saturday.

Well done... and you have so much good stuff to look forward to that any of the sickness in hospital, etc. will soon pale by comparison as the weight and inches start sliding away.
Best wishes and make sure to post some of you victories, scale and non-scale varieties as others just love to read them!
