Hi there, I was contacted in August 2017, but my referral was sent in August 2015, so exactly 2 years to the date.. it WILL happen.. and when it does, it's amazing!!

Topic: RE: Vancouver area bariatric surgery-friendly primary doctors?

Hi there,

I know this is an old post but did you end up finding someone? I currently have no primary care physician and am having trouble finding one. I'd really like to pursue bariatric surgery in the US or Mexico, so I'm hoping to find a doctor that will be supportive. Let me know if you have any suggestions!

Topic: Anyone gone to Mexico?

Hi there,

I am really interested in bariatric surgery (specifically VSG) and I would love to speak to someone who has gone to Mexico. I don't have a family doctor so I'm concerned about finding one that would support me, especially with post-op care. I'd also love to hear about people's general experiences with Mexico, good or bad.

Has anyone had the surgery in Mexico? What about finding a doctor at home that supported you?

I had my surgery June 7 .... I am over the moon happy about it

Hi guys

just as I was getting ready to make a deposit on Mexico, I got a call from Royal Jubilee Hospital! I go for consultation on January 25th. I've been keeping a strict journal and exercising everyday for the last few months. So they will see I'm ready!

abyone gone through? What was your time line like after orientation?

It's important to get a referral from your GP asap. I've been on the wait list 15 months and will likely be on another 18. In all reality you're looking at 3 years. I'm waiting to hear what the wait is right now for my referral time. I'm likely going to Mexico and payING out of pocket.

How long did u wait list for? Was it easy? What exact steps did u take? I live in BC so vgs is coveted by msp but how did u go from thinking about it to actually getting a surgery date? I'm desperate to get one . Please give me any advice or steps u took ! Xox

Great answer!

im I'm in beginning stages, what was ur first steps? I have a apt with my GP Wednesday...does he make a referral to a surgeon and then I get put on a wait list to see one? Then wen I see one , do the access my need one for one then go on another wAitlist? I'm in BC and vgs is covered by MSP but I'm asumming that's another huge wait which I'm not sure how to start? I keep researching and reading and I just get more confused . Any info I would be grateful xo
