Topic: panniculectomy
My surgeon has given me a referral to a plastic surgeon to see about panni removal. It's not imminent of course because of the long waiting list and I still need to lose more weight but I'm down more than 100 in just over a year (half prior to surgery and half since).
I'm wondering if anyone else is doing this or has done this and if they have any thoughts on the surgery itself, whether and how it might be paid for by BC Medical, etc. My doc says he believes it is covered but I'm wondering if that's only if you have horrible problems with it. I hate it and so far I have had some rashes but, what with it being winter, they have not been too bad. I do worry about the coming summer months of course when I do often have such rashes and I expect them to be much worse now with so much overhang.
Anyhow, hoping some of you out there have some experiences/information you can share with me.
Cheers,
Lynn

My first month and a half post op, I was going every 5 to 8 days (not good).  Surgeon told me to start taking a stool softener every night, before bed, am not going daily (feels much better).  I am now 3 months post op, and down 108 pounds.

With respect, I think it depends on who you see on the island.  I was referred to Dr. Malik in December 2010 and I'm booked for RNY with him one year and 3 days after my consult with him.

My pre op tests were done 1 1/2 weeks before my surgery and all in the same morning. I think tests can even be done the week prior.
