Topic: Referral, now what
 Hello Everyone.

So I live in chilliwack, and my doctor was more than pleased to give me a referral to Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Sampath.  My MD sent me for a whole bunch of blood tests and an EKG.  What should I be doing now?  Does this take a long time between getting a contact from Dr. N and Dr. S's office?  Is there anything I can do that can prepare me before I meet them?

Sorry for the questions, I am fairly new to this procedure.  I know about the different bariatric surgeries, but I don't know how do things right to get to the surgery date.  I currently weight 301 lbs.
Cheers!!

I've always been a Champion Nutrition Chocolate Protein Stack girl, but they just changed their formulation, decreasing the protein and increasing the carbs. I like the Allmax Isoflex for its stats, but the flavour isn't my favourite and it is expensive. I just found the Body Fortress "Super Advanced" whey protein powder at Walmart at a very good price (2 pounds / 24 dollars). It is even cheaper (2 bottles, 2 pounds each, $28 US) if you can pick up in the US and order it from Walmart.com.

Its a blend of whey protien isolate and concentrate, so very good quality protein for us, 30 grams of protein per scoop and very low carb. Had the chocolate in my coffee this morning and it was very tasty. Will try the vanilla next.

Hi Linda,

Sounds good! I am only 24 days away from surgery and 9 days away from pre-op diet....I can't even wrap my head around the post-op part of it yet!

I would love your recipes if you wouldn't mind....I will give it a go as I would rather have home made soups than canned.

How much have you lost to date since your surgery day?

Congrats!

Take care,

Karen

As I am still in  full fluid stage of my preop I've been making homemade purred soups tody.

So far have made my low fat low sodium creamy cauliflower and my low fat low sodium creamy carrot with a little ginger for extra flavor.

Not to pat myself on the back or anything but I make pretty darn good soup.

Tommorrow I'll do the tomato soup.

yum

Muscle Milk has twice the calories of other types of protein powders, so just be aware of that.....
For people not living near the border, check out www.popeyescanada.com for products that can be shipped from Canada.  Do you have a GNC there?  They should have a lot of protein powders, which are cheaper than the RTD (ready to drink) varieties.....

And yes, Costco has a lot as well.  Look at body builder type shops in PG for local supplies, London Drugs, Shoppers...a lot of big stores now carry some type of protein powder.....

The ones I buy from Popeye's usually only have 100 cal/serving, no fat, so sugar........  read you labels!
