I just saw Dr. Brown in Abbotsford and nothing is covered
by msp, pannis removal is covered but extremely hard to
get (you have to prove a history of severe infections sores
that aren't healing etc). I have lost 106 lbs so far (rny
surgery May of last year). The cost he told me was 7000 $ (butterfly) tummy tuck which would include a bit of
liposuction, 5000 $ breast lift,7000 $ under arms,
7000 $ inner thighs. With HST it would be 6000.00 $
tummy, and 7840.00 $ for each other procedure.I have
an appt to see Dr. Guichon in Surrey in September. My
friend had the surgery with Guichon recently and her
fee was 8000.00 $ full body/tummy lift + tax +2660.00
private hospital fees (11,600 total).

I've heard of Dr. Naysmith in Victoria
and wls patients have been talking about Dr. Reid in Richmond.
You can always go on www.ratemds.com to check out what patients have to say about the doctors and surgeons you are thinking of going to.

Good luck on the rest of your journey
Even though you haven't seen the surgeon yet, you are in the program and already making positive changes. That's the longest part, usually, from first consult to surgery...once you get there they'll have no reason to hold off for more than necessary. Just you wait! When it happens, it will happen fast! Have you seen the support group for this program on facebook? Send me a request to join (just search West Coast Bariatrics) and I'll add you -- there are lots of incredible people at different stages of the program, it's quickly become an incredible support for many of us!
Amber has another specialist to meet with in the next few weeks, so no date yet but hopefully she'll get one in September! Linda is scheduled for August 20th :)

Wait time for first consult is about a year, but you can get some of the requirements done before consult, which can speed up the surgery date. After your referral, phone Garatt Wellness Centre, in Richmond, to enroll in "Winning at Losing" class and then the WLS Cooking class. As soon as you have your first consult you can register for the "Change Ways" program. Also, do research to decide which surgery you would prefer, and read the book "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies".
After you have completed all of the above, you should phone the surgeons office to let them know that you have completed all the above & you are ready for first consult, and are available to take a cancellation (if that would work for you). Plus, keep a daily food journal & keep track of all your excercise (minimum of 30 minutes/day), to show the surgeon that you are ready to take the next step to surgery, which will be a number of appointments with other specialist doctors and a few medical tests. The more preparation you have done before first consult could put you in a better position for a surgery date.
Hope this helps, and good luck on your journey.
