Does anyone know if there is any meeting in Courtenay, Comox Valley/ Nanaimo area for weight lose or weight lose surgery , If not i would love to meet up with people, persons for Coffee, I could really use someone to talk to who is a bit ahead of me and I would be happy to talk to anyone who needs to talk . I'm going crazy right now and would love to talk to someone who has been here. I'm in Fanny Bay but would drive to Nanaimo no problem.

Hey...been there! I am 5 years out and when I go through an 'all I want to eat is sugar stage' I drink a RTD protein. I keep the premier protein, I buy at Costco just for that. It works!!! Do that for a few days.

I am going out of my mind , all I can think about is eating and sugar is what I want , I have not craved sugar before surgery and up to now have been eating well and normal for a rou ny person i have really been good about not eating it (sugar) I don't have it in my house , but I feel like I could bust a wall for some hard candy , what the hell is going on , and I have gained 2 pds in the last month and I'm working my ass off at the gym training and running, I'm feeling like a ******g hamster on the wheel all the time . I tried seeing a counselor in Courtenay, that was a joke , she wanted to talk about maybe I was sad that I had copped out ........What, I'm not sad I'm terrified I will **** this up, this great thing that has been handed to me http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/crying.gif

Yes, thanks I did. Lucky for me I've been having swallowing problems so I've already had a barium swallow and history so my doctor didnt hesitate to refer me. I haven't heard when my appointment is and I have to see a surgeon and its quite a big deal so its probably going to take awhile but its saving me $2000. Thanks!

Go to your doctor or walk in clinic and ask for a referral to a gastroentologist i guess, not difficult, but get in quick, there might be a wait.

Sorry, I went to Montreal and paid big bucks!!! I'll say I would do it again in a blink! Do your research and then try to keep it close to your home. So in the future, you're just a phone call away! Just want to say good-luck and don't wait any longer. I'd sell my ....:)

Hello -

I am a 30 yo woman from Langley who's BMI is 53. After a life of weight problems, and recent complications resulting from my weight I am ready to book in for a LapBand. Three years ago (after a two year wait may i add) I met with Dr. Amson to discuss options, but at that time the $$$ for LapBand was impossible for me and the extreme waitlist for the MSP funded surgery was laughable. However, with recent complications I am left with no choice and my family has agreed to pay for the surgery.

I have found the following places who perform LapBand but would love to hear your comments on these places, or other places that do LapBand.

1. False Creek Surgical

2. Surgical Weight Loss Centre

3. West Coast Bariatric

4. North West Weight Loss (US)

5. Victoria Band Surgery (VI)

I'd love to hear if I have missed any locations (and I am not willing to go to Mexico or the like), and what I should be looking for in a surgeon/ centre. I'd like to get in as soon as possible, but making a decision is a big thing as I am sure you are all aware!

As I begin this journey any other support groups would be greatly appreciated as well!
