It's time to go to the garret wellness center and get my mental health screening with Robin. Anyone give me some advice for what I'm in for? I'm a little bit nervous.

Robyn is sweet and sooo easy to talk to! Just be honest and open-minded...She asks you some questions off a few sheets and explains what it all means as she circles and writes things.  Some gets forwarded to your surgeon, the rest is for her. You talk about and rank things that motivate you to help with goal-setting as well...the session flies by, you've got nothing to worry about! :)

Awesome Thanks for your insight. That doesn't sound so bad. And glad to hear she's easy to talk to. I am noticing these people that we deal with are extremely positive and helpful, makes the whole process that much more enjoyable. Thanks again

Hi Lotus,

Robin is a very nice lady and there really isn't much to worry about, but, be aware of her role. While she's a therapist and mentor, she's also the gatekeeper to the psychiatrist.
Any one of our specialists can send up a "red flag" at anytime, this means if they feel there is an issue that must be dealt with prior ( and I assume after) surgery, they can put a halt in your program until the matter is resolved to their satisfaction. Robin is no different, if she feels there is a mental health issue that has not been addressed, she will recommend you to the psych. He gets the final say if you get cleared.

It's just an FYI and as long as your up front and honest, all will be good. I wish you all the best on the start of your journey.  :)

It's sexist to imply that the doctor is a man, and are you a part of the assessment team, asking because your post read like you were.
 Respectfully Jane
