So what tests does the hospital have to do prior to surgery, and can they get done on the same day?   I ask this because of living so far away that I do not want multiple trips in Dec. for this.

all my pre-op tests were done on the same day...I think they schedule them all on the same day for everyone????  They called me with the appointments all set up.
- blood work
- ecg
- chest xray
- appointment with anesthesiologist
- appointment with internal medicine dr
- appointment with nurse

and then I even booked an appointment with the dietician on the same day.

I live about 2 hours away from Richmond, so it was nice to get it all done in the same day.

I had all of my pre-op stuff done on the same day.  I had an appt. with the internist Dr. You, saw the nurse and was sent off for bloodwork, ecg, chest x-ray and then came back to see the anesthetist.  I did have to go back to re-do some bloodwork in there as well.  Like Lilymorg I was able to book my last pre-op appt. with Nooshin for the same day (and I was lucky enough that at that time she was still working at the hospital).  It was a pretty long day for me, got to the hospital for my appt. with Nooshin at 9am and didn't finish with everything until about 4:30pm, I had about 1 1/2 hours to wait until I could see the anesthetist so I went outside for a nice walk.  Oh yeah, I also saw someone from PAL to do a pre-op assessment as part of their study on the benefits of WLS.

The the hospital requires that all those tests be done within two weeks of surgery, so they do it on the same day.
