Dr. Sampath

Has anyone here seen him yet???  Also wondering what tests he usually requires before surgery???  I have had all of the tests that Dr. Tang asked for (scope, u/s, sleep apnea and have seen the respirologist) so just wondering if I should expect more.  The website also says that they require appts. with a nutritionist, what do you learn from them???  I would definately like to learn more about the post-op eating as I do find that a little confusing.  Also, do I need to start a food/exercise journal  now for him???  Or does he even require it???

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I am seeing his partner Dr Ngyuen, so I imagine that they have similar requirements...  the tests I had to complete are: appt. with internist, approval from psychiatrist, sleep a/p, scope, and the dietician program, which is a 7 week course that they go over basic nutrition and I think they go into before/after diet.  I live in Kelowna, so was able to cover the material here with my dietician and she just sends reports into Dr N.  I think that was it... trying to remember...  as for the food journal, you will have to do that for the dietician, but not for the Dr.  And he doesn't require you to lose any weight before hand (at this point, he did mention that if they get busier, they may make that a requirement).  He seems pretty easy going from what I've heard of the other Dr's.  :)

Another quick question, did you see the internist and psychiatrist in your home town???  Or did you have to see the ones in Richmond???  The wait here can be pretty long so if I need to see the ones here I'll try to get my dr. to put the referrals in now.

I had already seen both in Kelowna, so I didn't need to make appointments.  He does have a team of doctors (an internist and a psychiatrist) that he works with if you want to see them in Richmond, but from what he told me, he is also willing to work with the Drs in your home town.

I was just informed that my first appointment with Dr Ngyuen is on May 4. I'm curious as to length of wait between consult, completing all tests and surgery scheduled. I realize each person is assess differently but anyone know what it is?

Hi Spring Rain, for me it is going to be about 6 months from first consult to surgery date.  I think it depends on how busy he is.

A big thing to remember that it will vary depending on where you live.  Here where I live it can take 1+ year to get the ultrasound done so that would be a huge factor in the wait time.  If I remember correctly someone posted that the general wait time for Dr. N and Dr. S is about 6-12 months.

Thank you so much for the info!!!!!!!!!!!!  I already see the dietician here (who always comments on how well I eat    ) so I wonder if that counts.???  Guess I will find out when I see him in April.

I seen Dr. Sampath on the 31, He is a very nice Dr. Will explain and answer all questions thourghly,  They deal with the  Garratt Wellness Centre which will conntact you within a couple ofd days of your initial appointment.  He told me he wanted a food and exercise journal for the 2nd appointment.  He will also give you a bunch of stuff to start doing before your 2nd appointment.  Just relax and all will be given to you.

Best of luck

Linda
