Have returned from surgery in Mexico

Am recovering well from my VSG Monday 2/15 and had a really fantastic experience at Almater Hospital with Dr Aceves. Down about 7 pounds already! (I know it's mainly ater weight - but it's still thrilling to watch the numbers on the scale go down down down every day!

Still a bit sore and my incisions, especially the drain, are a bit itchy and driving me nuts, but having no problem getting in my protein and water - not on food yet, so not really noticing major restriction with the liquids, and have been able to drink pretty much normally - don't need tiny sips.

Anyway, am still at my Dad's in LA and fly home to BC tomorrow - can't wait to be in my own bed and to see my daughter and husband again.

Cheers,
Margo

Hi Margo,

That's great.  I'm so glad you are doing well.  I've been thinking about you and wondering how things are going.  ;)

I'm getting excited about my trip as we are leaving on Friday!  Not long now.  I'm a little nervous, but much more excited.

Enjoy your R & R at home!

All the best and keep us posted!!

That is so great to hear!
I am having my surgery tomorrow morning!

What should I expect?  Pain wise?
I had 2 c-sections...I can remember it like it was yesterday!

Any internal pain?
Could you sleep well the first night?

The drain???

Cheers,
Antonella

Hi Antonella,

I've had a super easy recovery. The pain was fine the first night - mainly because the morphine from the epidural is still working - the second afternoon/evening were a little more uncomfortable. Having said that, Dr Aceves and crew are very agressive about pain management - I would just ask a nurse and I'd get some medication - and I found it worked well. We also got sleeping pills, which I appreciated.

For me, the drain was no big deal. I've been able to sleep comfortably, more or less, on both sides since the surgery.

I haven't had a c-section, but have had a knee replacement and a breast reduction and this was a walk in the park in comparison to both.

Good luck! It will be over before you know it and the weight will start to drop - Yippee!
