Psychiatric Assessment - Step One
I had my psychiatric assessment last week with a really lovely doctor. After an hour of questions and answers she said that there is no psychiatric reason why I should not have the surgery, and many reasons why I should: and she is going to say that in her report to my GP and Dr. Malik.
I saw my GP after and she said that she is shocked that they have been able to book every single test that Dr. Malik wants in the next two months (all are finished by the end of November). She said that normally I would have to wait for some specialists - like psychiatrist and gastroenterologist - up to a year.
I guess all the praying I've been doing has been helping..... ;-)
Next week - abdominal ultrasound.

All he said to me was to have all of the tests and come back in January. He didn't say anything else.
I work in psychiatric clinic, so one of the doctors helped me to get the psych. assessment quickly. One of the wierd perks of working in psychiatry. The Psychiatrist saw me as a favour to the other doctor and said it was a "one time thing" only (although in the assessment she said that after the surgery if I felt like talking she would see me again).
Anyway, I had so little time with Dr. Malik that day that we didn't get a chance to talk about timelines. It was a matter of telling me what tests to get and to come back.
I'm hoping that he will give me a surgery date when I go see him in January, but according to Kara (his secretary) it could be up to a year after all of the tests are done before the surgery date.
Oh well....one thing at a time, eh?
