Where do I start?

Hi! I'm new to this and it's been very helpful reading all of your comments. I am in Victoria and it seems like wait times are very long here. So, I'm looking for a surgeon in Victoria, Vancouver (or area) or Calgary.

Not sure what type of gastric surgery you are looking for.  We are offering Lap Band adjustable band surgery in Vancouver in our facility.  It is not coverted by medical so you would need to pay for it.

The first thing you need to do is find out if you fit the criteria and if you do have your doctor refer you to one of the specialist.
Also decided if you want BC Medical to pay for it, or if you can put out $16000 of your own money to have it done.

Thanks for the quick responses! My doctor has recommended gastric bypass (he doesn't want me to have the lap band). If I can get it done sooner by paying for this myself, it may be an option. 2-3 years seems like a very long time to wait. I know about wait times, I waited 5 years for a minor surgery here in Victoria and decided that next time I would try to avoid these wait times if possible.
