I have my first consult with Dr. Tang scheduled for June 26/09 after only waiting 5 months. YAAAAAAHOOOO!!!
I recieved a call from Dr. Tang's assistant MJ telling me I have a consult. She is really nice. I would like more info about him. Could you help me out with more info please??
Thanks,
Laurie
Darn it I'm rescheduled to July 2/09
Dr. Tang is / has been trained by Dr. Amson. I believe that they work out of the same office. Since Tang is newer to the procedure (think 2 years experience) he has been doing relatively straight forward cases. I have heard of several people being done by him and none had complaints. They felt that they were in skilled hands and were well cared for.
Five months is terrific. I waited almost two years to see Amson and then switched to Dr. Rusnak. My first appointment to see Amson was supposed to be June 4th (yes, as in this Thursday).I had two previously scheduled appointments which were both cancelled. With Rusnak, I have completed all my pre-op work and I am waiting for a date. By my estimation, I will have surgery before I reach the end of the 10th month from my referral.
When you get to the office, be prepared to wait. Bring a book, pen, paper, any questions you may have, any history documenting your weight issues, and most of all, bring your patience. There will be many other people there to see the either Tang or Amson and they will be at all stages of the weight loss process.
Best of luck and have a great trip. Make the most of it. Your time with the doc will be short. Victoria is beautiful this time of year. Take some time to enjoy the Inner Harbour and the downtown core. There should be street performers each night on the Inner Harbour and they are usually pretty good (they have to apply and demostrate competency to become a busker there).

If, like most of us, you are strapped for cash, see if you can book into the Easter Seal House. They will take other medical patients if they have space and the price is right: $25 a night. Let us know how it goes. Incidentally, I am not sure if you know or not, but there are two other forums you might want to consider checking out if you have not already: www.bb.wlsforum.net and www.blazeonline.com . Both contain great information and a good support network of people.
