Girl walks into a WLS Clinic and throws her MasterCard on the table.................and states. 
OK who in here is willing to give me a VSG.....I got the time and the money and the will to have it done!!  C'mon Big Fella.......who is willing....nudge nudge, wink wink.

Girl gets VSG....loses her weight..............lives happily ever after!!

OK.....so it is my fantasy....but hey....I am entitled.

Here is my deal, I am looking for some help in finding a surgeon to perform a VSG.  I am from Eastern Canada where the wait list for one is 5-7 YEARS.  Yea ok....not this girl.

So I am researching the sites, the other provinces, the internet as a whole and like a VSG junkie looking for the BIG FIX.

That is right people...I am surfing the net, and taking names. 

So who has some names.....some clinics...some prices......you know the drill.

I'm up in Vanderhoof and while I was researching there was one surgeon in Surrey I think that charges $18,000. I went to Mexico with Dr.Joya and paid $10,000 including airfare and accomidations. It was fabulous.

Ohhhhh if your referring to Dr Leung....DO NOT go to him!!! He's a butcher and has a bedside manners of Nurse Rachett!

I just got that procedure done in Mexico for 9500$ american. It was a very professional hospital,surgeon ,nurses and staff. Good experience- not all surgeons in Mexico are good though so do the research.

Seriously, though, from a fellow Canadian, check out Puget Sound Surgical Center.

It's in Washington State so not too close to you, but they have lots of experience and success doing the Sleeve.  Two wonderful surgeons always operate together. 
Not close, not cheap, but SO WORTH IT.  Everybody loves them, and they have the stats to prove their expertise.  They do it laprascopically in well under an hour.
I had thought myself that I would have to go to Toronto, but I am so glad that I found PSSC.

Thanks for the tip, I did contact them.  They wanted $20,300 for the surgery.  OH MY....that is my most expensive quite so far.

I am gathering quite a bit of data, and will hopefully be able to book something and make a decision on dates after a WLS group discussion meeting I am attending on the 21 Feb.  Not a medical appointment...but a support group of Had/Going to Have WLS's.

What is the cost to go private in Ont?  I know that there are several private clinics who do the surgery there.  Close to home is good, is it not?  There is a clinic in TO that is one of the leading bariatric clinics in Canada.  What about there?  Dr. Joya comes highly recommended and I think if you tried some other wls forums, you would find more information.  There is also a clinic in Calgary that comes highly recommended.  You might also post to the main forum about this and see what people offer up.  I bet that there are tons of options for you.  As for the five to seven year wait, that is pretty standard across Canada.
