Hi it's me again..lol
I was wondering if anyone has had the
Duodenal Switch ? And how did it go?
Is it the same as the Vertical Sleeve?
Any information would be greatly appreciated..
Thank you for taking the time to read this and help me understand better.
And Oh one last thing, will MSP cover it?
Kind Regards

I would put this on the other webiste as well, Victoria website.

Im not sure if switch and sleeve is covered, I know the band is not covered.

You could ask Dr. Amsons office, or Dr. Rusnak's office staff.

No, they are definitely not the same thing.  However, the vertical sleeve is performed during a duodenal switch, it is the first step.
Apparently, some doctors started doing the DS in two stages for their higher risk patients and discovered that some of them lost enough weight to not need the rest of the DS.  So that is how the sleeve eventually became a stand alone procedure.
I feel that if at some point my sleeve stops working and I still have a lot to lose, I would consider then having the DS done.  But I intend to work the hell out this sleeve so as not to need the rest!

msp covers the sleeve though it is only done on patients with a lower bmi or as part one of two procedures for patients with a very very high bmi.
