That's wonderful!!!! I bet your really excited (and scared)
How long did you wait from the time you first seen Dr R to your surgery?

I see him on Noverber 26, after waiting 2 years to get my first appointment with Dr A. I'm just not putting all of my eggs in one basket!

Hi BBVixen:)

I really didn't wait long at all considering the other surgeons....
He had my info and saw him briefly in Oct... even though I had a resperoloigist at home I still have to see the specialists that work for his *team* as he calls it...
I waited less then 4 months.... after you see him... it moves along fast

hugs for now

Hi there, I don't think we have met. My name is Kelly and I'm seeking WLS as well..That's very exciting news to hear that you have a date..Good for you!!
Every time I hear that someone has a date time it makes soooo happy, I always want to do the happy dance..lol
I hope you don't think I'm been to forward if I ask you a question...
How would I contact doctor Rusnak? I have asked my family doctor to make me an appointment with him, but if you read my profile I'm having such a hard time getting my GP to get these app set up for me...I do have and date with doctor Tang set for the first part of Nov, are they in the same place?
Also I have had a few pre-op testing already..
My app with doctor M is Nov 3rd to sign my OFC forms, and I understand I think he wants to send me for a few pre-op test as well..
Again I am soo happy for you!!
Please keep us informed on everything..
Wishing all the best.
Kelly

Hi Kelly
Dr Rusnak no# 250 592 4313
but you do need a referral to see him for a GP or any current Dr you're seeing now
Keep your  appointment with  Dr Tang and see what he says.....  but since Nov is just around the corner maybe Df M can refer you  to Dr Rusnak  if you still want....
if you send your referral now I'm sure you'll get to see Dr Rusnak in next few months...and with all your co-mobilities Your surgery will be some time year if you have all your pre -op stuff done...
Dr Tang does the gastric sleeve  and the wait for surgery is much shorter than his RNY and the sleeve was my first choice which Dr Rusnak doesn't do  but with some of my other issues in the end the RNY was better for me..
the gastric sleeve is less risky and has GREAT  weight loss with out the compilations as  the RNY... trust me I'm still scared of the whole surgery aspect... I wish I didn't have to go through it...but I just keep on getting bigger and sicker so to me it's a necessity not a choice

hugs for now and all the best in your journey plz keep me posted

Cherri,

Do you know off hand which tests Dr R requires? I've heard he likes his own people to set it up and do the testing??

I just did the oximetry test and have to do a over night at the hospital, seen the cardio, and chest xray and ECG, seen a nutritionist as part of my pre diabetic education.....what else?

Wow girl you have it covered
He requires the same things as Dr Amson and Dr Tang  does .. but at least you have the oximerty test from the resperoligist which takes the longest to do,,,,,, so you're fine  with all of that...
but like every surgeon they still want the OK from their team.. that's where you still need to see his Anesthesiologist, dietitian for Bariatric diet (which is quite different than the diabetic one)
the Endocrinologist  since he will be doing tests specific for the biatric aspect
and finally a Resperoligist for your safety to monitor you in the hospital....
Don't worry Terri from the office cordinates all this so you see everyone at once . 1-2day max...
I still have to see them all in NOV, 2 on 1 day and 2 the next day,
only if something is wrong will my surgery be postponed..
I'm keeping my fingers crossed
hugs for now
Cherri
