appealing OOC form being declined
Hello
Well I really had my hopes of of my out of country form being approved for gastric bypass surgery but I called MSP today and was told that my application has been declined and my specialist is being sent a copy of the letter so I will have to contact her to find out why. Does anyone know how to appeal this decision for out of country form being declined?
Very disappointed,
Suzanne NV
Hi Carrie
Thanks for the email. I was quite suprised as well that they said they sent the reply letter to the specialist. It's been a pretty heavy week, Thursday went to the oncologist/gynec has having heavy flooding problems since April and my regular gynec sent me to the oncol./gynec for a hysterectomy and the oncol/gynec wants to try me on more pills for three months so everything is at a grinding hault. As I said to the specialist I cant work, cause of the heavy flooding, cant go anywhere on vacation and basically Im stuck. I said this will definitly push me back as far as surgery for gastric bypass. It felt like I was talking to a wall the specialist had a blank look then says I know what you mean, How can she she's not this heavy and going through heavy flooding. I shake my head. Thanks for the email just more deteremined to appeal the OOC decision.

Sorry you are going through this, i know one lady on here was denied several times but she finally got it covered. Maybe read back a couple pages or message her and ask, i know this is a long weekend so it might take a few days but i'm sure someone can tell you the proper things to do. I wrote you another note but i pm'd it so i just wanted to say good luck and i'm sure things will work out just fine. Elisa
In case your OOC approval process becomes long (as long as the wait for Dr A) what about getting a referral for one of the other Surgeons in Vic that are back to doing the procedure now?
I was waiting 2 years for a first consult with Dr A then finally learned of the additional 2-4 year wait for a surgery date, so I went back to my Dr for a referral to Dr Rusnak. I now have my first consult with Dr R in 3 months, whereas I would still be waiting another 12mo for my original consult with Dr A. With how Dr Rusnak's wait times are looking, the time from referral to surgery is approx 7-12 mo.
trkdrivinfool had his first consult with Dr Rusnak in June, and already has a surgery date for this fall!
There is also Dr Tang, who's wait list is a little longer than Dr Rusnak from what I hear, but still about half as long as Dr A.

I have a referral now in for Dr. R for November, but was trying not to put all my eggs in one basket so to speak. I am also dealing with heavy hemorraging episodes and was supposed to see the oncol/gynec for a hysterectomy and instead she has put me on progestrone for three months and then will decide about the hysterectomy. Problem is both are major surgeries and I would think there has to be about six months in between them. So Im hoping that Dr. R wont retire before I get my surgery. Ive had stress fractures in both feet from Sept 2007 to Jan 2008 and had to stay off my feet as much as I could while they were healing. Progestrone also makes you gain weight and feel hungry which is it certainly doing so its really trying to fix the bleeding but making my appetite and weight gain more. Hopefully I can get in to see Dr. R
my appt is November and maybe will do surgery without having to wait too long.
Thanks for the post I appreicate it.
