So I have not posted on here yet or have only a few times. Just wanted to give an update on how things are going. I was supposed to see Dr Amson on March 26th 2009 but when I went for refill appt on some meds I take with my family doctor she said that she is referring me to Dr Tang. I went home from my doctors office happy to know that my doctor is on the ball with things and I expected to get a call in a few weeks for an appt with Dr Tang sometime in 2009. I saw my family doctor the 2nd week of june. Got a phone call when I got home from my doctors office and they said that I was to see Dr Tang on July 22nd 2008. So I went to my appt. he was on time there was no wait. He is a very nice man and did lots of picture drawings of all 3 surgeries that he can do and that are offered. he told me of all the risks for each surgery and the outcome and the success rates on all 3 surgeries. I was so impressed. We decided to go for the RNY. I had already done my pre-lim blood work, the oximetry test, the overnight sleep study and had the chest and lung x-rays done so he told me that he was going to schedule a scope (to be done by him ) and an appt to see the lung specialist to make sure that I have no sleep problems or anything else wrong with my lungs. He told me that he can have these done within 4-6 months. I was surprised but happy to. He told me that once those 2 tests are done that he can book me for surgery within 2-4 months of that time. So that means that I could be having surgery by the time my son turns 3 yrs old in April 2009. Wow that sounds so scary but exciting too. Just thought that I would share my news with all of you. Thanks for letting me share. Lisa

That's wonderful, even 1 more doc is making a difference. Here's hoping for a fast wait for you.

Well I was told that Dr Tang's waitlist is not that long since he is focusing on patients to start that have not many medical issues. Dr Tang is located in Victoria, BC and is located in the same office as Dr Amson. When I met with Dr Tang he told me that the wait to see Dr Amson is now about up to 2 yrs min and then to get surgery is about up to a 5 yr wait. Dr Tang does the RNY, the lap band and also starting to do the new one "the sleeve". lisa
