Is it normal to be able to eat more than a 1/2 cup of food. I am almost one month post op with my lap band and have been straying from pureed foods but am chewing things to mush in my mouth. I feel I am able to eat quite a bit before I am full. Do you think everything is okay, the lapband wouldn't have come lose would it? I am scheduled for a fill in 2 weeks, is what I am experiencing normal. Would my pouch stretch easy maybe? I only lost .5 lbs last week.

Dear Lolo, I am not an expert on lap bands but from what I read and heard you can eat more fluids and soft foods and not feel as restricted as the RNY . I know people who told me they can eat tons of ice cream and not dump or get sick. That is one of the reasons I did not decide to go with the lap band as I have trouble with portion control. You will feel fuller when you go for your fill, make sure to ask them about that when you go for your apt. This forum is so quiet these days. Another suggestion is to go on Dr. Amson's support form in Victoria and ask there as they are 100 times more activity on there and you will be get support and help quicker and more people will be able to answer. In case you don't know the site, it is www.victoriabariatricsurgery.com Good luck and take care, Sim Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. Hi Lolo: I'm getting banded next week - can I ask who did yours? Also, where do you get your fills and post-op care? I'm in Vancouver too. Thanks!

Hi Tricia I hope your surgery went well. I have been away so just got your message now. I had my surgery done in Monterrey Mexico by Dr. Garcia. I had my first fill about 2 weeks ago and am eating much less now yet still not losing much weight. My suspicions of having a slow metabolism may be coming true. I had my surgery 2 months ago and have only lost 15lbs. MOst of which was the first 2 weeks and now I have stalled. Think I need to exercise more. For my fill... I had it done in Arlington at the Arlington Pharmacy, it is about an hour from the border. I could get you the phone number but if you just look up Arlington Pharmacy you should be able to find it. Good luck and let me/us know how you are doing.
