Hello, I am new to post on this board, but have been reading through a lot of messages. I want to thank you all for the info. I am looking to get a laparoscopic bypass done. I have lost all hope in getting it done in Canada in a timely fashion and would like to go to the US or Mexico. Hopefully the US and get it covered by MSP. I have not been able to see Dr. M. I was told last week by a lady at his office that I will not be able to mae an appointment even for a consultation until the decision is through on whether or not he is even doing the surgery. And even then I am not prepared to wait any longer. I am 30 years old and have trouble putting my shoes on weighing 300 lbs. i do not even have any hope of having children without loosing weight, I do not sleep, have chronic back and neck pain and heartburn eats away at my insides 24 hrs a day. I am not trying to complain, I just am not waiting any longer, I want to start my new life. If I do not get covered I'll pay for it myself, but would like to find a relatively affordable location. I am looking for advice on surgeons in the US and Mexico and ways of hopefully getting at least some coverage from MSP. Thank you, Adrienn

I self paid and went to Mexico on Dec 16/05. My surgeon charges 12500.00us for everything including airfare and hotel for afterwards. He is the best (in my opinion anyway!!). I started out at 275ish and now weigh 131. I am healthy and happier than I have ever been. His website is www.drjoya.com check him out!!!. Leanne
