looking for lap band in BC

I am looking for a clinic or surgeon in BC that does the lap band procedure. I am from Alberta and the wait for the 2 Dr.s here is over 2 years. I can go to Toronto and have it done in 6 weeks, but I would like some thing closer to home if possible. Can anyone out there help me?

I know of 2 surgeons, Dr R Woodhead in Delta BC chargers 14000.00. I'm not sure of the wait time. (Delta is a suburb of Vancouver) His address and phone no. are # 206 4515 Harvest Dr, Delta, BC V4K 4L1 (604) 946-6500. The other one is Dr Brad Amson. 405-1120 Yates Street Victoria BC V8V 3M9 Phone (250) 384-8154 Fax (250) 384-7571. If you call Dr Amson's office let them know you are inquiring about the lap band. He also does the RNY bypass but doesn't do that privately. He has a wait list of approximately 2-4 years for the RNY. But I believe the Lapband is only 3-6 months. No, I am going to be going to Montreal to have the RNY gastric bypass next month. I felt that the RNY was the right surgery for me. Less temptations, more strict. My surgeon is Dr Christou, I will be privately paying for this as well. 18000.00 My date is Apr 17, wish me luck! Jody

There is Dr. Wai Man Leung, in Surrey, BC who does Lapband. He is excellent, once you get over his bed side mannner, and you get your surgery within about 4 to 6 months. I had my lapbanding iwth him.... I don't ever fault him for the problems I have... he is an excellent surgeon... I have a bad body and system and can't tolerate the band, so I have to find an rny... but I highly recommend him.
