First timer!!!

Hi Everyone, My name is Monica and I live in Surrey B.C. I have seen Dr.A.Meneghetti in Vancouver on July 31 to see about lap band surgery and was told that he will not be performing that procedure at VGH as they are seeing to many problems or lack of weight loss with this surgery but he did suggest gastric bypass for me as I do have lots to lose, so I'm now going to all the pre-op appointments so I can get on the surgery list, he hopes to start surgery's in late fall. I've been reading everyone's messages and thanks to all I've gained the courage to take this step. Can anyone tell me the difference between RNY and Gastric Bypass.Thanks again Monica B.

Hi Monica, I would suggest buying the book " Weight loss for dummies". I got a copy at Chapters for under $30. It has everything you would posssibly think of of asking or wondering about on the topic of WLS. It is informative and easy to read and even has cartoons and recipes in the back. My question to you is did DR. Meneghetti's assistant ( Ann) talk to you about her booking the appts with the various specialists such as cardiologist, dietician, scope , etc for you as the next step. I saw DR. M a week and a half ago and my GP is away for 2 months. I don't want to be too pushy and bug his office all the time but I am wanting to see those specialists asap as the sooner I get the appts done the sooner I can go on the waitlist. I already spoke to his assistant Ann once already and I am going to call again this week to check on the status of my appts. I was curious if we are all being told the same thing. Hi Sim, Yes I have appointments set up with a respirologist and pysciatrist still waiting for my cardiologists office to call, I had an angeoplasty done in 03 so I have a heart specialist in place and I still have not heard from the dietician as of yet, Ann said that once all the letter are back from these appointments then she will book me to see Dr.M again so I quess its a waiting game! Ann did not say anything about a scope test but I may have to go for sleep apnea test, I couldn't get into the shrin****il oct 24 and I'm afraid the cardiologist may be longer-patience is not my forte.
