Stephanie,
Thank you so much for responding.
My email is [email protected].
Can you send me your email and telephone number so that I can give it to Kathy and Gilbert?  Kathy and Gilbert are moving to Mohave County this month.
Thanks so much!

It sure is good C'ING LESS OF ME!

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
& all are different colors....but they

ALL exist very nicely in the same box.

Yes, they are great doctors but I can already tell you that Berger will try to talk your husband out of banding and rightfully so. It's not a good surgery type and Berger has the ethics not to want to do a band and then revision surgery.

If he doesn't want bypass has he considered a sleeve? It is the safest surgery long term, far superior to banding in every possible way and ... no maintenance!

Banding provides the slowest weight loss, the least weight loss, the highest regain, and the highest mechanical problems requiring another surgery. Sleeves are simply more effective and safer long term.

BTW, if ins does not cover sleeves you can appeal the decision.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

Terry,

I live in BHC.. and I am not aware of any support groups.. I either have to go to Phoenix (where I had surgery) or Vegas.. I kinda have my own little support group though.. I had the RNY, my friend/neighbor had the band, his g/f also has a band.. and my husband is working on getting the band.

Thanks

Ok.. so my husband is thinking about getting the lapband.. and he has BCBS of AZ. We were thinking of going to the above named Dr's.. and I just wanted to know if anyone has any kind of opinion on them or thier office staff.

I went to Dr Juarez in Phoenix and he was awesome, but I don't really drive in Phoenix and I will be the one driving him home so he told me to check out Flagstaff.. and these are the doctors I found.. so please let me know any good, bad, ugly, or any experiences with them.

Like Joyce said, Dr. Blackstone does do the sleeve. They covered it in the seminar that I went to recently. I also agree with Kmastin that you have to follow the program-thats what I intend to do.

Rebecca you look great. I love your pic!

Topic: RE: Gaining weight during "supervised weight-loss"???
I am in my last month of my supervised diet as well. I gained weight last month but I do not think its going to hinder my insurance companies decision. (at least I hope not). I have been a slow loser during this diet but I have lost lots of inches!

Best of luck to ya!

I had RNY with Dr. Blackstone 5 years ago.  The office staff as well as Dr. Blackstone were fantastic.  I lost all my weight with no complications.  The key to being successful is to follow the program.  The total program, including exercise.  It is truely a life changing experience.  You get from it what you put into it.  Good luck!

I had my VBG w/conversion (prior gastric bypass in 1982) in 1991.  My surgery was done by Drs Edward Mason and Cornelius Doherty.  I am seeking a bariatrics surgeon in Tempe or Chandler, who studied under these doctors in the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.  After 20 years, I think it would be a wise idea to have my artwork checked out.  If you know of, or are a bariatrics surgeon who studied in Iowa City with these doctors, please contact me.  Thank you.

Sorry, I have never heard of these surgeons and I'm from Iowa. ;o)

Are they still in practice?  If so, could you have the diagnostics run here and send them to Iowa?

Do they do something unique that only they will recognize?  Otherwise, just go to a revision surgeon locally.
