Jean, I wasn't afraid but it did make me feel wonderful when someone noticed my weight loss. My brain wouldn't let me see it even though I know I was losing according to the scale. I can remember one meeting when I got out and thought I almost ran into someone and was excusing myself. Everyone was laughing at me especially when I realized I almost ran into myself in a mirror. I didn't recognize "me".
If you're not busy, come on up to the Dress Barn at Lake Pleasant/Happy Valley on June 12th. We're having a fun day up there trying on clothes and offering support. It's really great to see when members pick out one size to try on and then have to grab something 2 or 3 sizes smaller. I hope to see you there.

Topic: Sun City Group at the Dress Barn
Since the meeting room in Sun City isn't available, our local (?) Dress Barn is going to host us on Saturday, June 12. We'll meet at the Dress Barn up on Lake Pleasant Pkwy at Happy Valley (near the Target Superstore). They have a lot of cute summer stuff and lots of good markdowns. I was there yesterday and got 30% off a really cute top for this weekend.
We'll meet there at 10:30 a.m. and just have fun trying on clothing, yakking and wowing. I bet those of you who attended last year will be shopping "on the other side" of the store this year. I'm looking forward to seeing you all there.

I'm like Joyce, I wear my fat as a form of protection, kind of like a nice warm blankie. I am hopefully having revision surgery to get rid of this lap band sometime next month, and as much as I am excited to get it done and start losing weight, I am also afraid. With the exception of one year when I lived alone and could not afford to eat and had to walk everywhere, I have been fat my entire life. Hopefully we will both figure out how to get rid of the fear and learn to love our new bodies!

Could you include me dear. We havnt spoke for quite some time..I inquired about plastics with the surgeon you work for...and I met you in Prescott Valley support group..quite some time ago. I am now living homeless...hubby was at Walmart for 12 years...got hurt...waiting on SSI and workmans comp..have an attorney...living in RV. (thats a long story short) LOL
I would love to one day get a tummy tuck as the rash is unbearable..ACCHS wont pay for it..and as you can see cant afford it...LOL
I would love to come down to the conference on June 5th. Do you know of anyone going down from Prescott Valley???
Also we just got internet in the RV ..did I miss the 2 day conference OH puts on???

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Dr. Tamanaha @ Contemporary Care for Women delivered my son back in 2006. He has an INCREDIBLY good sense of humor and a terrific bedside manner. In fact, I had to see the NP there once and Dr. Linnerson came to check on me while I was in labor. They were both terrific. Their office staff was also great.
In fact, if I am ever lucky enough to get pregnant again, my experience was so great that I would be HIGHLY tempted to make the drive from NW Tucson to go to him again.

I have to add my 2 cents that I LOVE Dr. Linnerson with Contemporary Care for Women. He's on McClintock/Guadalupe. He delivered all 4 of my kids and seriously saved my life with my oldest. Congratulations, by the way. What a blessing. ♥

I wish I had an answer for you, but I'm in the same position so I'm anxious to see what you find out! I'm finishing up with the cardiologist tomorrow so I'll be ready this next week or so to submit my papers too. I'll be checking back soon. Good luck!
Topic: Diagnostic Testing / Lab Work prior to surgery
Ok...I am a about 2 weeks out from my final visit before submitting o insurance :) My surgeons office suggested getting the Diag/Labs done next week before seeing my PCP on 6/1 so th results are there & I can get the medical clearance at the same time.
My question is I am discovering my insurace isnt as great as I thought so I am having a lot of out of pocket costs....does anyone have an approx on the cost for the Diagnostic Testing & Lab work? I am in for a Gastric Bypass.

i mean it, we have a 2nd home in AZ outside of Tucson in Sahaurita right off Nogalas highway, i have family in Fountain Hills, just looking to make friends especially near my home so when i am out there we can get together sometimes.
