Can Someone Tell Me What I Will Need...?
Prior to your surgery, you are only supposed to consume liquids.
My wife got a list of suggested items (from the hospital) that she needed for her hospital stay (July 23 - July 25), which was as follows:
Robe/Lip Balm (my wife's lips got very chapped during her stay)/Kleenex/Slippers/Personal Toilet Items/Comfy, loose clothing for the trip home/Magazines/Familiar items to make your room more cozy (family pictures, stuffed animal, etc.)/your teaching packet.
Since your surgery is still three weeks away, I expect that your doctor will be giving you more information before then.
Best wishes,
Shell(Patty's husband)
At your teaching day you will get a baby spoon and a sippy bottle that will need to be with you in the hospital. I would also suggest your pillow and a book or something to read. Slippers would be good too!
The night before and morning of you have to wash with a special soap. I can't remember the name but the Dr. should give you the info. Also he told me to be on clear liquids by 11:30 and to drink the fleet between 4-5.
Good luck!
As far as what you will need will be in your hospital package. My surgeon, Dr. Zahn requires one day before surgery, that you be on liquids the day before surgery, and clear liquids after 6pm till midnight, and nothing after midnight. you have to take a fleet phosphate sulotion, and bath with a special soap. As for what to bring to the hospital, I found the most important was my chap stick, baby spoon, see thru sippy cup, fan, backstracher, both to strach were I could not reach, but to help me pick things up, I dropped my oxgen noise piece and was able to pick it up with my backstracher. I brought my own gown, but never used it, I used the hospital gowns. Maybe my own bed pillow was very nice.
